During the past 2 weeks alone, 4 similar incidents ocurred in different schools. Is the media partially to blame for spotlighting these events? Is it possible that by making these into such high-profile incidents, potential criminals are being exposed to new outlets for their behaviours?

I realize the media is simply doing its job, by informing, yet I can't help but think how much is too much? To make matters worse, I'm finding increasingly that many of the reporting have become quite "subjective" as opposed to being "objective"; the way that it ought to be.

Please share your views, and bear in mind that there is no right or wrong answer to this. Thank you.

Yes, I certainly think that they are responsible in part....if no details were reported, then perhaps these things wouldn't so readily happen...also, I can put a certain amount of blame on the police and politicians in the areas of distress.....I am not sure if it becomes their 15 minutes of fame or not...but it should stop NOW.....oh, and I am not too sure we should cite our "freedom of the press" in these instances....the last one in the Amish community is so sickening for those wonderful people and they don't ask for any publicity on anything!!

i don't believe that the media is to blame. there have been many incidents that have gone unmentioned. However, there are similarities between the colorado shootings and the amish shootings in pa. the fact that only girls were targeted is the biggest factor. I do believe that the monster in pa did pay close attention to the news/media last week. the fact that the girls in colorado were reportedly sexually assaulted would possibly make a sexual predator believe that the same kind of attack would fulfill his wishes.
i do believe that everybody interupts things differently, in that my beliefs on this subject, may not be anothers

Id say so. They shouldnt be giving so many details to the public, just the family. Its also the violent movies, and music. But what can we do? Violence is another way to entertain ourselves. As americans we have come acustomed to watching it. Back in the day stuff like "Psycho" was scary but now we have been over exposed to it that we need an even more bloody, violent movie to give us that scare that we want.
