I think it would because it would restore a sense of patriotism that is lacking in this country. If people were forced to serve two or three years it would help us set our priorities straight and help us appreciate our country. Even girls should serve I think. Would you be upset at that or would you take it as an opportunity to be a good citizen if that happened here?

I mean, Bush went 2 terms with things like;

"I promise you I will listen to what has been said here, even though I wasn't here." -at the President's Economic Forum in Waco, Texas, Aug. 13, 2002

"I couldn't imagine somebody like Osama bin Laden understanding the joy of Hanukkah." --at a White House menorah lighting ceremony, Washington, D.C., Dec. 10, 2001

"I'm the commander -- see, I don't need to explain -- I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president." --as quoted in Bob Woodward's Bush at War

"F*ck Saddam. We're taking him out." --to three U.S. senators in March 2002, one year before the Iraq invasion, as quoted by Time magazine

"Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties." --discussing the Iraq war with Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson in 2003, as quoted by Roberts

... before he leaves office. I imagine that he will throw a giant parade for them and say "the war is over". That way everyone will be so pleased that their loved ones have come home and the flashy parade that they will be blinded by everything wrong he has done (which he seems to be fairly good at doing). Then people will say, "he wasn't a bad President really" which is a complete lie. It will be years untill a few clever people start saying "actually he was a terible President, and then in a few more years it will become genral knowledge that he is considered good, but was actually very poor.

I realise it seems unlikely now, and that last part doesn't make much sense, but try to imagine it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for troops coming home, the sooner the better, if you agree with the cause you must still want them to come home, as with any war. But I don't want to see people forget that George Bush is a terible President and always should be remembered so.

...they're saying all the right things about taxation and crime. I haven't met one single person who has a good word to say about Labour. I think they're going to make Gordon Brown the shortest-lived abour Prime Minister in history if he calls snap election. People are actually realising that his trip to Iraq this week and announcement of troop withdrawls is nothing more than spin.

Are Labour's days numbered? I think so...

Ok suppose they didn’t do it.
These are the things that bother me and why I seem obsessed with them as accused.

1) Why did they state they would help with the investigation as much as possible and then when in a position to do so refuse to answer 40 questions?
2) Why hire lawyers before private investigators? They have only now really started what appears to be a real search for Maddie and this seems more to clear any smear on their names than to find their daughter.
3) Why if this police in Portugal have bungled things don’t they arrest and charge one of their suspects ‘Robert Murat’ whom it was stated was seen on the night of the so called abduction? This would save them all the hassle they are now facing.
4) Why are the British media so pro two parents who left three under five year old children alone in a strange apartment in a strange country when they could have had baby sitters, whom their children would have known as they spent a lot of time in the crèche before and
