Although I am personally glad to have not served in the military, I like the Israeli model. I've met some women from there that you would mistake for high powered rich business types just because of the amount of confidence and pride that they exude. Nope, just military service with a normal life afterward, and a little bit of grenade shrapnel in the shoulder. It is not as though everyone would be going on commando missions either, there are plenty of Army jobs that are well suited for fatties and tards.
I think alongside the military program there should be a way around it for the conscientious objectors, but it should involve shame and the same burden that comes with a felony conviction. As in not being able to get some jobs, jury duty, etc.

I think women should register for the draft just like the men. Why not? Maybe if women were drafted in the military we would have shorter or no wars at all. I also feel that every American needs to live in a foreign country for one year and then when they return to the USA they will be better Americans.

Nobody should be forced to serve in the U.S military. If anything, we need to demilitarize and focus on improving diplomatic relations with the rest of the world and we won't find ourselves so fearful of attack.
Israel is in a perpetual state of war which is why everyone is required to serve. But we start conflicts that would never have happened if we hadn't intervened. We try to use military force to bend other sovereign nations to our will, then beef up our military, because we know we're pissing people off. How about we back off for awhile?
I think you're confusing jingoism or nationalism with patriotism.

As you don't state where 'this country' is I assume the US by your style. In the US men are not forced to serve so it would be a bit unfair to say women should be. But I understand plenty on women sign up,so whats the issue?

In Israel, service interior the IDF is mandatory. If no longer able to connect the IDF, different venues of national service are attainable. From the tone of your question, no remember what the Israelis do, you will oppose it.

NO ONE should be forced to serve in ANY military EVER.
If that did that, I'd move to another country, seriously.
Israel shouldn't even exist anyway.

I haven't heard any Israeli women complaining about it. So it can't be that bad. As for HERE; Men aren't "forced" to join a Service either- so what's the Issue about? More Women haven't voluntarily joinned up to go to Iraq- because they're smart enough to know a unfounded War when they see one, & leave it up to their foolish male counterparts to get gunned down of the bloody streets of Baghdad... :)

what is applicable to one country is not necessarily correct for others.Israel is too small and surrounded by hostile neighbours who want to wipe it out given the chance.in america it might be counterproductive if your aim is to generate patriotism. it has to be voluntary for the females at least.
