The seals are being slaughtered in Canada!

"The Canadian government has given the go-ahead for hunters to bludgeon to death 335,000 baby harp seals this year." http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/seal_hunt07?c=BbySlblg

We need to brainstorm ways to end the cruel harp seal hunt!

Thanks in advance!

Forget for a moment whether the issue of whether she was covert or not at the time of the outing. Just focus on the revealing of her identity. And the fact that she was a Republican. And her husband had just written a damaging op-ed piece that had driven Al Gore into a rage.

In other words, put the shoe on the other foot. Be honest. How would the Republicans in Congress have reacted? Would they have said, "No big deal. She wasn't that important. She wasn't covert. Besides, remember freedom of speech. A liberal newspaper columnist has the right to print anything he wants."

Try hard to be serious.

I understand that people are concerned about raising wild animals in an unnatural environment, but for Christ's sake, how can ANYONE justify wanting to kill this perfectly healthy, well looked after little cub?! Polar bears will be extinct soon anyway according to environmentalists. This whole case is just sick IMO.

"Berlin Zoo rallied to the defence of Knut, a three-month-old polar bear cub, on Tuesday, rejecting demands that the animal be allowed to die after being abandoned by its mother. The fate of "cuddly Knut" has gripped the German capital since his birth in December. Rejected by his mother Tosca, the cub was adopted by a zookeeper who moved into the animal's enclosure to care for him round the clock.

Some animal rights campaigners think this will humanise the bear too much and want the zoo to stop saving young animals. Now three-months-old, little Knut is at the centre of a row over whether he should be allowed to continue living or be put down.

BBC News has just reported a Jehovah's Witness woman being found guilty of appalling abuse of 3 foster children during 20 years. Police said her farmhouse was "stinking" and "atrocious" and that this was "The worst case I've ever dealt with". Childrens' skin was rubbed with sandpaper; they were forced to eat excrement, drink bleach, were beaten and burned. This woman attended Tewksbury Kingdom Hall, once putting a sign around a child of hers that read "This child is evil. Do not speak to her."

Did JW elders not wonder if anything was wrong? Did the woman's JW friends not notice the plight of the 3 children? This went on for over 20 years! Was the woman visited and did JWs report anything to Social Services or the Police? Even if they were duped, as were Social Services, has this woman now been disfellowshipped? She has brought God's good name into disrepute and psychologically scarred these children. How could close-knit JWs not notice?

The war in Iraq is a big example ...... do you believe the President outright lied about the legitimacy of this war ? Or were the intelligence sources honestly mistaken ?

Also, do you believe politicians lie purposely to get elected ...or ..... is it just that getting things done in politics is a lot harder than expected or .... if promised something from a politician ..... is the effort good enough ??

Your views please on the matter of prisoners being paid compensation because they did not have plumbed bathroom facilities and now a prisoner in scotland is complaining that his human rights have been violated because, when he uses the phone, the other person gets a recording to tell them that the call is coming from a prison and may be recorded.
what about society's rights not to have our human rights violated?

phew - feel better for that - going to get off my soapbox now and wait for your thoughts.

Please note what these people want to do to a cub.
I like to think of animal rights activists as kind people but I guess I am wrong about them and here is the proof.

Look at all the facts about the man, and still people are throwing themselves at the man. Why? Look at his middle name, look at his books, there is not way this man should be running for president of america, not with current events going on in america and around the world.
