Partner dancing. I've had dozens of hobbies and dancing is the only one that stuck with me. It is so much fun. Since he's surrounded by women, he really needs to learn what it means to be a good strong leader, a good strong MAN. Dancing teaches you that. Take what you learn from the dance floor and you can apply it to real life. Women want strong leaders. Women want take charge guys. Even extremely independent women let go of their control when an alpha male (not a bully - a good leader) takes charge. Some men have a way of making people willingly follow them. Those are the alpha males. Learning to partner dance early on (say around 14) can teach a young man how to become an alpha male. And since the boy's in a house full of women, he's probably going to find it easy to find a dance partner. Anyone who gives me thumbs down probably does not know how to partner dance. A good leader is a servant. A good follower is compliant, but is servED. Everything the leader does he does FOR his partner. This is a lesson that young men (especially in this independent feminist world) need to learn. Look at our president. We didn't elect a dictator. We elected a servant. Everything he does is to make our lives better. This is what the leader of a household is supposed to do. And learning to lead a woman is an excellent way to teach a young man how to lead properly, for the follower. Besides that, it's fun, and girls like to dance. And they REALLY like a guy who can dance. When he starts going to school dances, the girls will take notice that he's a good dancer, and this will give him a lot of self-confidence. BOY do I wish I'd learned salsa when I was 14. ALL of the good dancers that I know of began dancing (hip hop at least) when they were around 14.

A really great hobby is flying model electric R/C airplanes. You can build your own model (some are very tiny) or your can purchase one (some are fairly cheap and made of styrofoam so they are fairly indestructable). You will need a radio controller and an electric motor.
Find a flying field in your area. Visit their special events and you may be able to purchase used equipment.
I do not recommend gas planes because they are noisy, messy and the gas is combustible. The electric planes are relatively quiet, they startup immediately (you have to fool around with gasoline ones) and they are generally smaller which means more portable. There are some that you can even fly in your basement or backyard.
You might not be old enough to drive a car, yet, but you can learn the same flying skills that it takes to pilot an airplane or a UAV.

I don't know if you would consider photography or not, but this is one thing that I would do in the summer. Because not only that you get to get out of the house and away from computers and the Tv, you also get to go around your city, town or even your whole state and get to see the enviroment around you. Perhaps even meet new friends, and the best thing is that you can make a photo album too and if you use a digital camera, you can use the pictures for your computer's background or screen savers.

flyfishing is GREAT! my son started to flyfish and even made his own flies after a while. and you can collect the flies.
Bird and small animal watching and feeding is also great, when combined with photography or drawing, this can really be a great hobby.
if you are into sports, try street hockey. same rules, but with a ball and inline skates. boys and girls can play.
photography, with a digital camera and some simple software can really be an awesome hobby.
start a frisbee golf group.

Fishing is great. Hiking is excellent --- you can explore all those out of the way places like ... creek and stream beds ..... ravines ..... rivers edges. You can sometimes find some neat stuff too.
Playing an instrument is always good. Also ..... doing odd jobs as a hobby and also as a way to make money is a good thing.

Fishing, camping, biking, model trains, model airplanes, model cars, playing cards, LaCrosse, field hockey, video games (for the really hot days), running, trampoline jumping, shooting pool, swimming in a pool, kite flying, drawing, car shows, car rebuilding, redecorating your room, collecting stuff, and my personal favorite, finding some girls, and goin out. You're 14, get out and meet some people, go crazy and be spontaneous...but be safe (as a 22 yr. old I am obligated to say that to a younger generation, LOL)

You can take out the trash, wash the dishes, and clean the house. When you're done with that, you can play some videogames, and use your computer. During the school year, make sure you do your homework first, then play games and do other things.

Sports cards (gave me a love of reading and a photographic memory). Having people send you postcards from all over the world. Colorful stamps. Get into gardening, even just raising a single plant in a pot. Reading, reading, reading!
