Your views please on the matter of prisoners being paid compensation because they did not have plumbed bathroom facilities and now a prisoner in scotland is complaining that his human rights have been violated because, when he uses the phone, the other person gets a recording to tell them that the call is coming from a prison and may be recorded.
what about society's rights not to have our human rights violated?

phew - feel better for that - going to get off my soapbox now and wait for your thoughts.

please - no purile rubbish! thanks

This topic makes my head want to explode!! There is not enough duct tape in the world to hold it together!

Our prisoners should have nearly every right stripped from them. They should get food , a bed, and let them clean themselves. THAT IS IT! Make prison so bad they never want to go back there. As it is now, why wouldn’t a homeless person commit a crime on an extremely cold night, just to get a warm bed, 3 meals, cable TV, showers, etc… for a few nights / months / years all at our expense!

wow i never thought about it that way I guess it is violenting rights because we are not in prison yet we are being recorded..I agreed with the violation of privacy rights for those who are not in prison...The Fourth Amendment is clear. Electronic surveillance of this sort requires a warrant. A warrant allows a judge to serve as a check against executive abuse of power. That check keeps our government honest - preventing one branch of government from mischief and errors. wiretapping has been abuse and use for many years since the fbi and cia and know bush wants to pass the wrietapping law...

You are right, these poor prisoners they are suffering so much. They should have a lot more rewards, they should have good wages while in prison we must really give them everything they ask for, and if you think this is a lot of bull---t it is, just like the idiots that want to improve conditions for scumbags in our jails.

What about its just being another way to pay one's debt to society; by allowing the recipient of the call to know the origin of the telephone call, it protects them from unsolicited calls from inmates. If the caller is aware of the callers whereabouts [prison], it reminds them that the telephone call may be recorded and or monitored.

just shows what a sad state this country is in now, whatever happen to crime and punishment, and if you cant do the time, don't do the crime. I guess their rights are more important than their victims, thank god for the P.C's of this world, where would we be without them ?

The day they became prisoners they lost any right they might have had. they didn't respect other people's rights and that's why they ended up in prison. What are they expecting? they should be grateful they haven't been hanged.
