He was backed by the US in the war against Iran in during the 80's and was also successful in keeping the waring groups appart for 25 years.... We created a power vaccume and what works over there is a hard line strong man to keep the peace. Demoracy is against their reglion and will never work! Its either that or draw new lines in the sand and hope for the best?

I am planning a fundraiser for a friend who is battling cancer for the second time in two years. She is going through her chemo now while continuing to work. Her husband isnt working thru no fault of his own. She is trying to save her vaction/sick time for the possibility of radiation. She has one teenaged daughter at home. My friend is the only one working. We want to have a fundraiser for her. We are having a band, food and raffles. I think maybe a bonfire. Has anyone else ever organized a fundraiser before? Or been to one? If you have any ideas or fun things that we could do, or if you can tell me any fun things you might've done or seen at one, it would be appreciated! Thank you all!

I've heard several references to this person on various episodes of TV shows. I gather he is, or was, a political candidate of some kind. I tried looking it up on Wikipedia, but the page was blank for some reason.

Well, if its true, it wouldn't surprise me. I'd be surprised if attempts weren't made more often.

I read a great news story on Yahoo! it was one of the actual news stories not the featured ones, but I can't find the link to click on the threads generated by the story. I want to know what others think and also to be able to send a copy of what I wrote to friends etc. So how can I find the link to the message board for that story? I was able to find the other message boards but not the one for the article on the X-ray machine going in at Phoenix's airport. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Isn't it funny how we blame a storm on deaths?

We don't reserve for what may be poor judgement of the drivers who are speeding in the snow...driving on bald tires...talking on the cell...tailgating...aggressive driving...ALL done during the snowstorm...

So let's blame the storm? Isn't it great to live in a no-it's-never-my-responsibility society in failure, but we are always taking the credit for things we never did?

Amazing...really.

She's sweet and all that. But doesn't seem to have the stature of a news anchor. I thinke Bryant Gumble or Dianne Sawyer would've been a better pick.
Nothin personal Katie...she just seems really awkward.

But Sharpton said Guzman, 31, was "very clear" about what he was saying.

"Even at one point, when we pulled back from the bed after having prayed, he called us back and said, 'They tried to kill us, they tried to kill us,'" Sharpton said. "Obviously he is just coming into his own consciousness and pleading for help. We promised him we would do what has to be done to get justice."

Him, Al, he is "very clear" in one sentence, yet dillusional the next second...

Like an overzelous prosecutor who really has no sense of justice(beyond self-granduer), I think Al should stop stoking the flames of hatred here.

And what about Jesse Jackson...when asked if the comedian who used the N word should be forgiven...did he forget about his own act of adultery? How do you judge someone with that mindset? Does he think himself righteous?

This is actually just a poll that I am doing for a research paper in my media class. For example in my house we have 8 TV sets and 4 computers.
You don't have to tell me more than the numbers of each.
Thanks to those who answer my question.

I wonder to myself: is the UK media reflecting public interest in the litvinenko case? Or just whipping up a storm for the sake of it?

Russia's 3 main television channels are reporting on our speculation about the death of former Russian intelligence officer, Alexander Litvinenko, from radiation poisoning.

"Panic in London" - state TV Rossiya
"Britain is on the brink of panic" - state TV Channel 1

Is this true? Are we this scared? Or is it the news merely full of hysteria about tiny traces of radiation found in planes and buildings?

There are actually some theories that it was. A good one is why is it that there was never an actual video out from the crash on the pentagon, there is probably millions of cameras around the pentagon and the one they show is just the fire blasting out. The government also went to the gas station across the street from the pentagon and took the tape and they never realased it, and also the plane structure never fitted the actual damaged area of the pentagon. So what do you think really happened??
