AIDS is a virus. Man has never found a cure for any virus. None. We have identified many even found ways to control them. They can even go dormant for years, but they can mutate and occur again more virulent than before. So, eradicate no. Help to control or maintain, possibly.

If managed well and spent to educate and prevent the spread of the epidemic, YES. There is so much that people don't know especially in Africa. I saw a show about 2 years ago and a missionary said that many women in the African town she'd just returned from didn't realize that they could simply ask their sexual partners to wear a condom. It was not customary in that particular culture for a woman to question a man in any way and although they knew they had unfaithful partners in AIDS an riddled community, they still wouldn't save their own lives through this simple request because of IGNORANCE.

I don't think so:
AIDS is spreading too fast (11.000 new contaminations each day )
lots of people don't even know they are infected and spread it
But if all of the money was used to search a cure/vaccine it might work or might not, you can't really know

btw I'm wondering how you came up with such a figure =)

it might, like we finally learned to beat polio not that long ago. aids will never disappear, but it could be made into a controllable disease which will not threaten the very survival of man.

Recent research is showing that circumcision may help stop the spread of AIDS more than any amount of money we throw at it. http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=healthNews&storyID=2006-11-06T181057Z_01_COL663143_RTRUKOC_0_US-CIRCUMCISION-STD.xml&WTmodLoc=NewsHome-C3-healthNews-3
