Memoirs of a Geisha is "just a novel/movie" but - are children begin sold in N. Korea? Are daughters being sold in N. Korea?

In other war-torn areas, Iraq, Darfur, etc is selling of children beginning to be seen as a bad idea? Is this one of those old "traditions" that humans can "evolve" away from?

I don't know for sure, but it's possible. A lot of people are starving to death in Korea (while the dictatorship turns a blind eye) and I've heard of a lot of desperate things happening. I don't think it would matter whether it's a daughter or a son, both would probably be sold without concern.

Another thing that I've heard is that they're trying not to have children since they know the children have very little chance of survival, and even if they do, they'll live a miserable life.

Hope that helps.
