We are all influenced by the media and advertising. What types of advertising campaigns are most effective on you personally? Cite specific examples. What rhetorical devices do they use, and why do you think they are so effective?

I live in the Northwest, and we have had 2 search and rescue missions up here in a week. I don't think the Kim family should ve held responsible for goimg dpwm a rpad tjat was supposed to be closed, because a vandal cut the lock open, but the three on Mt. Hood is another story. Who should be responsible to pick up the bill for the three lost climbers on Mt. Hood? Should the individuals who are lost be responsible? Or should all hikers pay a higher fee to hike to offset the costs of Search and Rescue? What about a system that required all hikers to wear a GPS locating device? Just curious to see what you think. Thanks!

In an apparent reversal of decades-old secrecy policy .. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of Israel said 2 days ago that Israel has the ME's only nuclear weapons...

This raised a question and a firestorm in Israel as well as the Arab World..

Honestly, it never ceases to amaze me. Looking at some people's answers to questions about Iraq... they say things like 'yes we are right to be in Iraq to kill those terrorist b*stards' or 'Iraq is about getting revenge for 9/11'

HELLOOOOOOOO?!?!?

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11!!! Even Bush has admitted it!! So why do people STILL think there is some kind of connection! There is NONE!!

The false 'Iraq/Al Qaeda' link was a ploy to get people to back the war. Now we are in the midst of it all, it has been admitted that there never was a link.

So do why people still think there is?!

bush. those of you who finally realized that our president is a moron should decide to vote for obama instead because we need something new. it's bad enough one of the democrats are dying and the republicans will have a say. i don't vote i'm just a unofficial supporter of democrats ( don't want jury duty) so i just chill. america is only growing worse. even if our fellow democrats do get us ways. for example: i'm poor. sexless, incompetent, and live at home with my momma. i don't date. i have problems from hell and i talk to myself. naturally you all will respond with some smart azz comment of how i should better myself but nobody cares. how do you cure that, america?! and don't say suicide i already tried that!

Two loud explosions rocked the Gaza-Egypt border after nightfall Thursday, and security officials said terrorists had blown a hole in the border fence.

There were no immediate details on who carried out the explosion. But it came shortly after Hamas militants seized control of the Rafah border crossing.

Israel had closed the border to prevent Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh from returning with millions of dollars for his Hamas "government."

Hamas officials have managed to smuggle more than $66 million in cash through the Rafah border crossing in the past eight months, a member of the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority government said Wednesday.
