Really, we can't don any better then 3 men against America, the President, 2 women that have aquired a position of power, the YouTube guys, What?? What about those helping the poor and sick, those looking for alternative energy, or better yet, our military men and women??? That is wrong with Time??? I don't get it.

The editors choose the person, group or entity that had the greatest impact on the news during the year, in their opinion. Mother Theresa might be a generous lady, but Adolph Hitler affected the news more, like it or not.

Unfortunately good news travels slow and humanitarian efforts seldom make money or draw national attention.
The heroes of 911 would not have been recognized if they did any other good deed prior to the terrible events that took place.
There is more money to be made in pain and suffering and adversity than there is to be made in good things that make the world a better place and therefore, whatever sells Time Magazine is what makes the cover for Man of the Year.

My vote on the poll at the site went to the YouTube guys - they deserve it because of their great innovation in providing an outlet for video content to either be submitted and/or seen internationally.

Yep, and it was Josef Stalin one year, too.
It's not the "best" person of the year, it's the biggest newsmaker. They considered Osama Bin Laden one year, because that was the biggest news.
