Tackling relevant issues requires research, thought, and open-mindedness. Most talk radio pundits aren't willing to put in that kind of work. So, instead they spew the same catchphrases over and over. Stop listening, maybe if the ratings drop far enough they'll start being informative.

Because most political talk is hosted by boring individuals (i.e., Sean Hannity). While I don't agree with a lot of what he says, Michael Savage's program, "The Savage Nation," is by far the most entertaining show on talk radio. He has a history that goes beyond broadcasting and political commentary, and as a result, his is a far more educational and compelling talk show. You may not agree with a lot of his opinions (many of which are fuelled more by his current state of emotions than his intellectual analysis of the issue), but he is one great broadcaster, and you have to give him credit for that. I highly recommend you check it out.

Depends on who you listen to.

If you are more liberal (or open) minded, listen to Rachel Maddow on Air America in the early evenings, she makes a real point of doing a lot of research and discussing the day's news.

I don't know which ones you have tried, but Michael Savage is pretty entertaining.
