I live somewhere else. I've heard so much about Walmart. Other than a major store, what makes it popular?

I will be moving to the New York city area soon, as my job will be in Manhattan, and I'm wondering -- hoping? -- that there are any safe and less expensive places to live that are near the city, where one could take the subway into Manhattan for work etc.

Basically, I'm looking for the least expensive places to live in one of the 5 boroughs or even outside of it, as long as I'd be able to still commute to Manhattan without a car.

While I don't expect a bargain, I figure it would probably save some money to live outside of the main parts of the city, and any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you!

LAZBOY

On July 1st I took my wife (who has a disability walking and walks with a "WALKER" Shopping for a comfortable chair. I have owned two Lazboy chairs in the last four years and convinced her to try one. We found one in Taupe that fit her height and weight perfectly.Even though it was more expensive than I originally wanted to spend I decided to purchase it!!
When the salesman (Mr. Curtis Marquardt began writing up the order he said their would be a $54.95 DELIVERY CHARGE. I then asked him if it would be to big to be put in the truck of my car. He said yes!!!
He also said if it were damaged in my truck I would be responsible! So I agreed to the delivery.
Today, the chair was delivered and two men carried it in two parts and set it up within 15 seconds.
In as much as the chair was in two parts it could have easily fit into my car and trunk and I didn't have to pay for DELIVERY!!!
OF COURSE MR. MARQUARDT NEGLECTED TO TELL ME THAT!!
As a long time buyer of LAZBOY recliners I would appreciate if you can RIGHT A WRONG that I experienced with this VENDOR!!
Thank You for any help you can provide!! AL SILVERBERG
ADDITIONAL INFO ON THIS PURCHASE IS AS FOLLOW: SALES TICKET #4-89328 LOC 829 AMOUNT $699.95 DEL CHG $54.95 SUB-TOTAL $754.90 TAX $58.50 AMT PAID $813.40
The reply to this message was that cannot do anything for me!!! And, Mr. Terry Bradford who called me pretended to not understand why I even sent my e-mail to their main office!! When I bought my Lazboy chairs previusly I lived in New York and delivery was free with the purchase.I had no knowledge of how they were delivered as I was working at the time an not home!!
It is my belief that this company practces "UNFAIR SALES PRACTICES" TO EXTRACT THE MOST DOLLARS FROM THEIR CUSTOMERS

I need money and have a month before I go on holiday. I may have a job picking up golf balls from a driving range (£5.50/hour), but do you have any money making ideas? Beacuse I got unformilly sacked from Sports World and I am sick of looking for those types of jobs in retail, and kissing ***.
But I do need the money!
Thanx

Usually, when I go to a store, I already know what I want to buy or look at, And I probably know more about the item already than these people do. I hate being accosted but 14 people asking if they can help me, just let me be, I can find what I want by myself. And then, On the rare occasion, that I might have a question, There is no one to be found anywhere! what is up with that.
I dont mind if some one asks if im doing ok., I say yes, and they leave me alone, But when I go into a best buy or something, and you see all these salesmen hovering around like sharks, waiting for you, I just want to leave.

I would really like to know of some exotic animal rescue places, but I am also interested in some regular cat and dog rescue organizations. Anyone know of some or a site that has a list?
