Not knowing what kind of business you are referring to, here are some suggestions:

1) Send a letter to customers telling them about the transition and that their business is still valuable and appreciated. The business will continue with its strong customer-service ethic
2) Offer a discount for the first few months of the transition-
3) Ask for suggestions about improvements from customers. Let the customers know their business is wanted and appreciated.

That's what I can come up with on short notice.

Well some gift certificates for stuff to buy in the same business, or a special discount for continuing business with them.
