I'm working on a remodel for a sale and the pervious owners wall papered the entire house floor to ceiling. The paper is like vinyl so it's easy to pull off but the adhesive paper behind it is a pain. I'm trying to steam it then scrape it off with a putty knife but that takes forever. any other suggestions?

I have been living here for 6 years and in the last 2 to 3 years the tub/shower has lost about half it's tiles. They are still laying in the tub. The roof leaks in my dining room, causing plaster and water to drop whenever it rains. The basement steps are wood and some have become unsafe. All these things my landlord is aware of and I have been asking when they will be fixed. I usually get either a " yes we will get to it this week" or "we have to wait on the plumber or roofer". HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone been through this and if so, how do I handle it??????????????

We had a structural engineer look at a large crack in the basement floor near a center bearing wall. The crack is approx. 6" to the west of the center bearing wall and has opened approx 3/32" - 1/8". The engineer said that the crack was caused by the bearing wall not being centered on the footing and lack of adequate control joints. This would cause the load from above to crack the concrete floor because of inadequate support directly under the bearing wall. Engineer believe that construction loads and general furniture load should not cause it to crack anymore. Should we continue with the purchase? What should we ask the builder to do about it? Please help. We like the house but don't want to get stuck with something that may need repairs.

The 20+ year old foundation has a poured-concrete bottom and "concrete block & motar" walls. There is a seepage problem (through the "concrete block & motar" walls only) when the ground is soaked in heavy rain.

Will the foundation (concrete or motar) crumble if it is periodically attacked by standing rain water? if so, other than regrading the surrounding to get better water-drainage, do you have any suggestion for rehabilitating or reinforcing the damaged "concrete block & motar" walls?

Thanks!

If there's a fork or something stuck down there, I want to fish it out, (My disposal is acting weird.) but I'm not really thrilled with the idea of reaching around in there. What are the chances I'll lose a finger or some thing? Any thoughts?

I have a slight leak in my extension flat roof (14ft x 20ft)- Is it better to patch it up with something or getting some sort of sealant and painting it on there?
