I need to switch off the water supply to my upstairs shower, its a wall mounted mixer shower with one tap for the pressure and one tap for the temperature. There is no way of getting to the pipes without taking down the tiles!

Downstairs is a combi boiler that has about 6 pipes coming out of the bottom. There are silver screw heads coming out of these pipes which do not seem to stop the water at all when turned....

There is no plumbing under the sink except for the sink taps..

Any help would really be appreciated here!

Bought recently an old 1860's 3 story townhome in Philadelphia and we're gutting it. We ripped up the carpeting, then the subflooring, than a layer of hardwood (1930's) that was incomplete and then another layer of subflooring to find the very original wide 6" planks...whohoo!

One or two spots smell funky, like soaked through cat urine or some kind of mold....any suggestions on how to get rid of the smell other than just letting the planks air out.

We still have to sand down all the floors and stain them.
Thanks

We are building a new home and are planning on laying porcelain tiles in the majority of the living areas. can anyone offer advice about cutting these tiles? we understand that they need to be cut using a wet saw however we had a play on the weekend and they tended to chip on the edges. is there a special blade for porcelain? any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. thanks.

What kind of drill bit should I use? I checked local hardware shops found stone drill bits and a 3 pronged drill bit. Can I connect this to a power drill or do I have to use a manual drill?

I've got the design down, but as far as the foundation goes, I'm not sure if I should build the porch on top of a slab or if it'd be ok just on the leveled ground.

My senior prom is this Saturday and I’m putting the finishing touches on my dress. However, I had a small accident and now I have a two inch hole underneath my Brest in the dress. It’s not through the lining it’s just in the top layer of fabric but I need a quick solution to fixing the hole. So how can I make the hole unnoticeable?

it's used to take pre-measurement before initial cuting the material. it's like a yellowish brown paper, ba softer and less fragile than your average brown paper bag/sheets.

I want to try to build a small cupboard and shelves in the alcove next to a chimney brest. I'm new to DIY, but want to attempt it myself. It would need to support a flat screen TV, books, ornaments...nothing too heavy. Any tips would be great. What sort of wood is best? thanks

I caulk around the tub where the tile meets. I let it set for 2 days. Then I use the shower, after a few days it seems the caulk is not sticking. I can see it coming up from the ends. What is the problem.

I'm looking for plans or ideas on how best to manufacture a rough cut mower to pull behind my ATV. The only material I have now is the engine (vertical shaft 18HP).

Anyone have any clue as to where I can look at some drawings or get some ideas?

I know absolutely nothing about gardening, I just moved to a new house and am interested in trying to grow a few vegetables. There are some flower beds in my yard and I have noticed some of those tags lying in teh soil showing what has been planted by the people before me. Is it possible to plant vegetables there? If so, do i just go out and plant them or do I have to get the stuff that the people before me planted out? And how would I get all that out of the garden? I am very confused about what to do and could not find any help on the interent about getting rid of one garden and starting new. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
