I have to get screws out of an old bench. I know nothing about tools, so I was wondering if I could use a power drill to take them out (yes I know it can put screws in). If not, a screwdriver should work right?
Thanks

i invested in a cute cinder block home that has several coats of sturdy paint. i would love to stucco over this with minimal prep.. has anyone out there tried it? what is involved? is it $$??
my intent is to make it look less like a garage - so i'll take any ideas - stucco or other.
i'm hoping for ideas from folks that have actually done this and is happy with results!

I defrosted my upright, stand-alone freezer by unplugging it and leaving the door open; now when I close the door, the gasket won't seal and the door won't stay closed (I had to tape it shut with duct tape). It was working fine before I defrosted it. What has gone wrong and how do I fix it?

I have a split system air conditioner, which when running on heating mode seems to be forming ice on the cooling fins and then cutting out after running for about 20 minutes. For the last 10 minutes of that 20, it doesn't hardly blow out any heat. If I turn it off and back on again, it blasts hot air out for a few minutes and the starts cooling down again. I have checked the pipes and the insulation foam on the pipes seems to have got extremely hot and melted a bit. I have touched the pipe with the melted foam on and it is VERY hot and the other one is cool.
Any anyone help me work out what could be happening?

Many thanks

Paul.

When I bought a hm recently the sellers never told me anything about the basement flooding. When the electrican came over and the power was off only at the outlet of the sump pump for an hour after a storm the basement started to receive water seepage. The sump pump has no known problems and the electrician made a direct route or power to the breaker box but is there anything else I can do to make sure this basement absolutely doesn't flood even in the case of an outage Please help.!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I had some flys in my house that i couldn't seem to get rid of,between the door being left open and the damp weather and so on. I tried this tale of taking a ziplock putting a penny in the ziplock filling the bag with water, enough to cover the penny and taping it to the widows of the back door and windows. sounds crazy, doesn't it.?..It works!!!! Now, does anyone know why it works? if you have never tried this and have a fly issue... try this its amazing!!! if you have tried this and know why it works, please let me know. Thanks

I just moved to a diff apt, and my old apt had a shiny tub. I kept it that way so easily... rinse the wall down throughly after showering, and dry the wall and tub straight away! I did it even before I got out of the tub, and I tell you, if you do this, you won't ever have to scrub your tub again!!!

BUT... the tub in my new apt looks FILTHY!! I scrubbed it with pure Lysol, then comet and an sos pad (no they don't scratch tubs) then BAMM, and today a cleanser called KABOOM... guess what... it still looks filthy!! Now the BAMM & KABOOM are corosives, and if anything should have cleaned it, they should have... but they DIDN'T (can I get a refund please). There is what looks like a ring around the tub, and there's not a speck of shine in it... Has anyone else fixed this kind of problem???

THANKS!!

I have plenty of tomatoes hanging on my 10 tomatoe plants. However, they are all green and various sizes. I wonder is it now visible to cut back on watering, so that I will have red tomatoes to eat soon? I live in Northern Utah and we have extreme heat weave.

I have a eggshell finished wall and I had to touch up a few spots. Looking at it directly, it matches perfectly, with sunlight, it is drying where you can tell I touched up. Will it dry evenly and be unnnoticeable? Or do I have to redo the whole thing?

Elapsed time - 1 hour since touch up.

Does anyone know if using paint and primer with a mildicide is an effective way to prevent mold?
Also, is sodium hypochlorite (bleach solution) effective for killing mold?
Is there anything else you would recommend?

Hi,
I've recently completed a home inspection. The furnace in the home was not working properly. I'm wondering what could be wrong with it, and how much it would cost to fix such a problem(s)????

Here are the details:

*The thermostat was turned to the auto position, the temp raised, but the burner would NOT ignite.
*The pilot light was out at the time. (There were several burnt matches on the bottom of the furnace, so maybe the pilot does not work automatically, and only manually.

Any idea with what's wrong and the co$t to fix would be helpful!!

Thanks!

-George

We're buying a house with hardwood floors and they're in pretty good shape but there's a section that is scuffed badly. Would be great if we didn't have to sand and stain the entire area.

And I had no Cieling Fan installed in my lving room and it has some kind of metal plate covering it with 2 screws and next to one screw it looks like somebody came into my house and drilled a Peak hole for a secret camera, Is my house wired or is somebody spying on me?

There are a bunch of mosquitos in my backyard. When it rains there are puddles made and they stay for anywhere from 3 to 6 days. This is a mosquito baby laying hotspot especially because i have a bunch of trees(big trees) and shade around there. There is no way i can get rid of these puddles (believe me ive tried). So my question is how do i get rid of all those mosquitos, is there somthing i can buy, and when it is dry out, what product is there to kill or remove these mosquitos from my backyard??

I looked on Amazon.co.jp, but they don't ship those items internationally, and niether do any other japanese site I've looked at, and JLife International's prices are terrible. I'm looking for a cheap set between $80-$100 + S&H (which is about how much they are in japan). Does anyone know of an importer, or site that ships internationally?
