i run a summer day camp program for 3-7 year olds, and in the past few years the summer temps have run from 101 - 105 on an average day. and i'd like to take one of our playrooms and air condition it.

the problem is, i'm on a TIGHT budget (less than 150$ to spend) and am looking at used window-mounted AC units. but our windows are old victorian style ones, that open from the bottom, outward at about a 45 degree angle, and go no further.
so there's no way i could put a window-mounted AC unit in them.

is there any way i can put a window mounted unit on a table that's the same height as the open window, and let it drain that way? or.. are there any solutions?

this is a very outdoors-ey summer camp program, and it's okay if there is some water pooling on the other side of the window/on the cement. and we're a very eco-conscious program as wel, so if there any more eco-friendly AC units, please let me know what they are.

the room is about 800 sq. ft

I'm buying a new build home and I'm trying to establish whether the builder is ripping me off for their pricing of recessed spotlights. Obviously, I expect to pay more buying directly from the builder however it is also more convenient.

I would be looking for the following:

5 spotlights in kitchen
5 spotlights in bathroom
6 spotlights in main bedroom (This is in the roof)

I'd appreciate any advice. Cheers.

I have a steam iron with a teflon coated base, which has some synthetic cloth (from my mattress) that is stuck to it. It is a big hassle because some of it comes off every time I iron some other article of clothing, and stains it. Is there a product available to remove it (preferably without scratching the teflon), or some other home remedy / chemical which one can use? Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The smallest is about an inch and a half in size while the largest is upto four inches. There must be atleast a couple per room and bathroom. And I have a four bedroom house with attached bathrooms. So I imagine between 10-15 lizards. It is a whole colony haha. But they are harmless and run away from me frantically. Occasional it can be disconcerting when im opening a door and one of the larger ones nearly drops on me.

I dont want to call an exterminator and kill them. That would be too cruel.

I heard that leaving used chicken egg shells in various places scares them away because they think there is a larger predator around.

Any ideas suggestions or ideas?

ok, so we had this huge, heavy entertainment center made of compressed wood (pressed wood? not sure what its called...its like particle board but not quite)...anyways instead of getting rid of it we cut it up and turned it into a much smaller tv stand. however our problem is this: because we had to cut it in different shapes not all the edges are finished. the finished surfaces of the material are dark brown resembling wood grain. we're wondering what we can do to these unfinished edges to make them look nice! brown paint would just look tooooo tacky. any ideas?

I have a large bay window and I have no idea how to decorate it with window treatments. The window is in the main living room so it needs to be comfortable and not too formally decorated. There is a ledge that was designed for people to sit in, but currently it is not used for that. I would like to keep the window's sitting feature, but at the same time dress the window so it does not look so plain.

Okay, So, I like to wash my clothes by themselves...I HATE it when my parents try to wash my clothes. Anyway, Today, I had a huge batch, and after I washed it, I put everything on hangers and hung everything up (i don't dry my clothes)...Anyway, I noticed that on this yellow t-shirt...around the neck and a spot below that...they had this...pinkish reddish stuff. Then, I noticed on another white t-shirt...it had a pink spot on the back that I SWEAR wasn't there before. Anyone have a secret on getting stains out, b/c I have no idea what this is, and I know it's just two t-shirts, but I'd like to get it out if I can. HELP ME! Should I wash them on hot...to get the stain out...or use something on them. Anyway, ten points to the best advice!

I am trying to help my mom find new window treatments for her home. Living in a small town, we are trying to find a few good web sites to buy well made curtains that do not cost an arm & leg.
We have tried ebay, but it was to time consumeing for what little we found to suit her needs.
One example, is that we are doing her kitchen in the red, white & chrome 50's look and then "trying" to find a way to tie in the the French Country design she wants for the rest of the house.
Any ideas or suggestions are so very greatly appreciated & valued!!!

Thank you!
