The simplest way is to put the filter valve on " waste " instead of " filter ". Then let the pump run and it will discharge water from the pool. Lower the water to the desired level and return the filter valve to " filter ". Do not lower the water lever below the skimmer. Good luck.

Most , not all , pools come with a "self" drain effect. Many will have an alarm that sounds if it reaches a certain level ,triggering the "self" drain pump. It cannot hurt much if it overflows as there should be an underground drain system around pool area. All this is of course about a "built in" pool, if yours is above ground then I would suggest pumping off some water and NOT letting it overflow, since this could cause the wall to possibly be damaged. I would not empty a "built in" pool for any reason other than repairs since an empty pool is more subject to cracking than a full one ( the weight of the water helps hold back the surrounding dirt).

Use a sump pump to get rid of the water. Everyone that recommended using the pool pump/filter must not have read about the in ground part. Running your pump like this will make it run dry and can ruin it.

Why is the pool empty if you don't mind my asking.

On your pool pump there should be a way to flush the pump out, the way you do it after you clean the pool. Use that setting and it will drain the pool down for you. Make sure you stay around and not let the pool get to low. Good Luck

id you don't have a reverse pump--syphon it out,put a garden hose in the pool till it reaches the bottom ,suck on it till water flows freely, water your garden by laying it on the ground and moving every so often,a bit slow but works

Your circulating pump has a reverse.
Check with a pool supplier for your brand and instructions.
