I live in Florida and we are considering putting a metal roof instead of tile due to all the huricane. Does anyone have any ideas on the cost and pro and cons of a metal roof vs the tile roof.

up a trailer at the end of the season. Can you leave clothes,t.v.,
bedding, towels, toothpaste shampoo etc. I know not to leave paper products, but what about the rest? Store stuff in rubber bins, but how, in plastic or what? I know about kitty litter and bayleaf and bounce. I used to take everything home but it's becoming a pain going up two stories.

I know the easiest way to repel the nasty little things is to use bug spray, but are there any foods or drinks that you can eat/drink to repel them?

If you want to build a house - rather than just buy one already built - how do you go about doing so? What are the steps?

Do you have to have the money upfront or are there loans?

We are having trouble with ours and I am wondering if we are the only ones. It takes FOREVER to get hot water and when we do it doesn't seem to stay hot long enough to fill a bath tub because it just kicks off. It will kick back on, but it is very annoying if you are taking a long shower. Also, our pilot has now started going out at least every other day. Anyone know anything about this?

I'm laying down brick pavers and I've already got them down and the sand in between them, but the sand keeps blowing out. I've also tamped it down with a plate compactor. Wikipedia says I should use a sealer, but doesn't list any examples. I just need to know the names of some sealers I could use.

Michelia alba campana. We finished our backyard excavation (careful to leave 5 ft around the tree trunk) one week ago. In that time, the tree has lost nearly all of its leaves. The tree is about 20+ feet high. The fallen leaves are a mix of brown, yellow and yellow with brown spots. We haven't seen it this bald in the 1 year we've had the house. We did notice that about 3 roots with a diameter of 2-3 inches were cut off in the excavation process. Not sure if this was the reason as I've read that root disturbance is tough on this tree. Or could it be that there was extra dirt (about 1-1.5 feet) piled around the trunk?

Is there anything we can do? We love the tree and were trying to excavate and plan landscaping around it...any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm installing a bathroom vanity but it won't fit because of the pipes from the wall and the floor. If I can remove the drain pipe, I could get it to fit. Then I could install the pipe once I get the vanity in.

looking for ideas and info to build a simple and rustic wind powered pump for a backyard pond. I don't want to use any elecricity and I would like to create something that once its made, will be trouble free and simplistic in operation. I esp. want info regarding the vane design and the method of drawing the water. I would appreciate any web sites, but I don't want to buy any pre-designed thing or plans.

I've got a twisting sort of lock, not a push button sort. One of the kids locked it from the inside and shut it. I took of the outer door knob, and back door knob came off in the process, too. So now I'm looking at only the innards of a door knob. I've tried pushing against the levers that I see, but nothing springs loose. The locking thing just seems stuck. What do I do from here? How do I get the door to open?

Okay, so don't ask, but my wife an I kinda got about 2 oz of massage oil onto our Beige microfiber couch, and I don't want to touch it without finding out what will take it off. Cannot remove covers and wash separate, so what do I use to get it off?
