are there any chemicals or additives that you can recommend for a small (15X6) pool, to help stop or slow clouding? there is no filter, and we cover it up when it's not in use. thank you!

You need a filter. Sorry, chemicals only go so far, you still have the suspended particles such as dust and the dirt and oils from the body. As sunlight hits the water, algae will grow on these particles.

There are some clarifiers on the market but I haven't been all that impressed with them. Plus you'll need an oxidizer, chlorine is the best know, to break down organic particles. The chlorine comes in tablet that you can put in a small floating dispenser (duck, frog, swan, whatever) and will float on the water slowly releasing chlorine. Yes, even when the pool is covered. Chlorine quickly breaks down when exposed to sunlight and water splashing....so it needs to be constantly replenished. (get a little test kit to show you how much chlorine is in the water at any given time)

You add the clairfier around the perimeter of the pool (inside of course). With a filter it gets swished around, you'll have to do the swishing yourself.

Water that is not chlorinated and filtered is very dangerous, especially in the heat of the summer. It's a breeding ground for bacteria. If you have little kids in the pool who accidental pee it's even more dangerous.
You need to go to a local pool store and find out how much chlorine and what size filter would best work.
I would not go in the water until you check this out. Swallowing this water for small children can be fatal.
Please take this seriously.
