I took the carpet and pad up in the bedrooms, the floor isn't in bad shape, but it needs cleaning. This oak floor dates from the 50's. I don't know if it's been refinished or not. Carpeting has been down for at least 20 years. I was going to use Murphy's Oil Soap, but online experts say NO, that it leaves residue which will cause trouble if we do want to refinish it later. I don't want to have to buff the floor, I just want it cleaner so I can start using it now. I don't want to do a lot of work altho I am willing to get down on my hands and knees with a damp rag. I don't want to use harsh chemicals. A lot of the cleaners on the market now specify that they are for polyurethane finished hardwood floors....I don't think this is. I was going to use Orange Glo, but it's for poly. HELP is very much appreciated. I want to get this room back in use. Thanks.

If you have a fire alarm in your residence, that contacts the fire department if it goes off, and that alarm stops working.

If the people that are responisible for fixing it, delays fixing it, for 2 or 3 months and then finally fixes it. Can they get in trouble for that?

If so, can you tell what government agency there is, that I can report them to. Would it be the fire department?

I need to have a garage sell. However I have two small children and do not have the time to setup everthing on tables and put prices on them. Would it be a good idea to just open up my garage door and put out a sign. -You Find I Price- and let them to the digging?

The latex paint that was applied over oil base paint (washed prior to painting) was noted to peel when scratched by our dog. You can actually peel off pieces. Can we sand the latex paint and apply oil base paint over the surface again or are we in for some heavy -duty work?

I have a older brick home @1800 sq. ft. with plaster walls and really old wiring. I just really need a ballpark idea of the time and expense of re-doing the whole thing to modernize it and make it safe. Currently there are these ancient looking cloth wires and fuses in most of the house. Will they need to tear out my walls?
Any info would be appreciated , thanks!

I have always wanted a Jade plant, first one I got had a small batch of four, which I very quickly killed off two of the sprouts, and slowly the other two. I realize now I over watered them. I was given a rather large plant, well, a foot high at Christmas, and I put it in a window, because the pot was larger than my window sill, I anchored it there so it would get lots of sunlight. I pulled it down yesterday because it has now grown above my window frame, it's now almost a foot and a half, well on the side facing out to the window, I had no idea it was growing very huge on that side! I thought it wasn't growing much because on the side facing inside, very little was happening. My only worry is this, there are little tiny white spots on the petals facing outside. Are these alright? I wiped a few off, but then stopped incase I should leave them alone. It's also tipping a bit, turning the barer side towards the sun for another half year should help balance this... right?

My Stepfather has offered me some Water Lilies from his garden pond so that I can transplant them into a lake we have recently taken on as a fishing business. I am worried that the Lilies are in full bloom and wondered if now is a good time to move them, or if not when the ideal time would be. Having checked the Internet it doesn't seem to make the time of year very clear.

I have a hummingbird with a red neck and green body. While it eats 3 to 4 more hummingbirds will swoop down at it squeaking. They almost attack eachother to get to the feeder. Two of the other ones are a darkcolor with spots on them. I have two feeders and they do it at both of them. They like one in particular though. The green and red one will sit on top off my lillies under the feeder and watch for the other ones and then sworm at it. Is this normal? How can I get it to stop?
