Peg board. You use hooks and pegs to hang garage tools. You can build a "frame" for your peg board by attaching 1x2's to the walls of your garage. For stability, you will want to install a 1x2, cut to the length of the pegboard, in 16" increments, and for the entire length of the area to be covered. You will want to cut the pegboard so that the edges rest on a 1x2. When installing the 1x2's you will want to make sure they are fastened securely to wall studs using appropriate fasteners for the materials receiving the studs. Mount additional 1x2 horizontally at the top and bottom of your pegboard area to complete your "frame." Use screws to attach the pegboard to the frame...insert pegs and hooks in desired locations, and you're ready to go.

They are called "stocks". Some used to have a section for the persons feet as well. It was a form of public punishment. It was not just used for adults - children were put into the stocks too. They were generally used as punishment for petty crime like theft and in a lot of cases the village/townfolk threw rotten fruit or vegetables at the person locked in the stocks. This was one of the public punishments used....another one was the birch. This was a switch of birch twigs, bound together and the criminal was beaten with it. Wonder if there'd be as many ASBO's given out if these two types of punishments were still used!
