Sure, considering most people will try to talk you down from the price anyhow.

Well, it's great if you're not expecting to get alot of money for your stuff. I got rid of tons of stuff doing this very thing. I have 2 small children and we had this neighborhood garage sale so people came from all over. I just opened the garage door and started pulling out boxes and before I could price anything - people were asking what I wanted for this and that. As long as you're not someone who overprices used stuff people will take a bargain and run. But if you have some things that are very valuable. Don't go this route. Price those items as high as possible and use price tags. Then you set a price in your mind you're willing to work down to when someone wants to negotiate buying it. I did make some quick cash. I have 2 little ones too so I understand.

You're gonna spend all day answering questions - Get some stickers and put them on the smaller items by category.
Orange - 25 cents
Blue - 50 cents
Green - $1
etc.
Also, put up signs that say:
Shirts - $2 each
Slacks - $4 each
Toys - $1 each
This is a lot easier than pricing everything individually and you don't have to answer 500 questions about prices.
PS - if you use the sticker idea, watch out for people swapping stickers on you. C'mon people, it's a freakin quarter!

personally i think you would waste your time! It would be in your best efforts to get a sitter...
i love garage sells but i'm not going threw stuff to find something! I would walk around look what ever was out i would look at the pricing tho yeah you can let others ask you! you don't have to price everything! mayby larger items!
but i would put the stuff out!

No, because it would be so so so easy for them to steal, just about anything. What you should do, is arrange for a family member or a good friend to come over and watch the kids or help watch the kids while you set everything up and price the stuff. I hope this helps. Take care!

You might have a liability issue depending on how junked up the garage is. Anyone hurt on your property can file a claim on your homeowners...and the deductible on those can be really high (usually 500-1000) If its not too junky, it sounds like fun..a real treasure hunt!

at least put stuff out so its accesable. people aren't going to rummage through your stuff. pricing isn't too important. you may not get as much money this way but if you just want to unload its the way to go. i have had several garage sales where I didn't price things. people alway make these ridiculously low offers so you have to like haggling a bit.

Excellent idea! Why not charge them by the car or truckload?
We just finished a yard sale, the purpose of which was to rid or cut down on our clutter. We would have moved a lot more stuff and saved a heck of a lot of prep time doing it this way!

Sell the kids too. A doller two forty for one, tree fiddy for both.
Your next garage sale will be lots easier.

Sounds nice and pretty good, but just realize that it'll be pretty hard to estimate what you'll end up with before you begin selling unless you already know the prices..
Personally I wouldn't do it....
But it's okay for your situation....
