I just noticed a person in my family use the dryer to dry one item. It was set for 50 minutes. It was only a shirt. It seems to be a real waste of energy, but someone else didn't think the dryer took that much. Any clues?

What do other gardeners do? I have tried both ways, leaving them alone, no pruning at all, and I have also pruned them heavily thinking this will help to get bigger tomatoes?

I have a 3 1/2 ton central ac unit to cool my 1800 sq foot living space house. It is over 10 years old. It used to be adequate to cool the house, even when the temperature would get into the mid 90's in mid summer here in the South. Due to the hurricane last year I had some huge 90 foot trees next to my house cut down because of the hurricane threat. Plus the summers here in the South continue to grow hotter over the 22 years I've been here. It is now in the mid 90's from June to early September.
I cannot keep my house temperature below 80 degrees when it is 95+ outside. I had my ac unit looked at, man said it was fine and that getting 80 degrees inside when it is 98 outside was reasonable. 'Reasonable? what does that mean? I think either my ac unit is too small to cool my living space due to increasing global warming, or I have terrible insulation. What would you do to solve this problem?

We have had at least three drip coffee makers that have overflowed. Some were even new. The coffee would go into the filter basket and never go out into the carafe and eventually overflow. We have one now that doesn't have a carafe, but stays in the container until you place a cup under it, but would like to find out why we have had this problem with more than one brand.

My roomate and I are always fighting on this one I say if away less than 6-8 hours better to turn it up and leave it on so there is no need to recool and dehumidfy the room. I think that saves the most mpney. My roomate is more of the leave the room, even for 15 minutes then you should turn off the a/c just like the lights to save money. In Hawaii, our electric rates are ridiculously high as it is and to really know the right answer would be very helpful.
