Women's Health - December 2006

Each month I have one-two days during my period where I am bleeding through a super plus tampon every 20 minutes to an hour for several hours at a stretch. I am not in any pain, but very tired and moody. I do not want to have major surgery at this point ( I am 38 with two kids at home) but I am miserable for a few days each month and now dread getting my period weeks before I actually get it. Anything I can do with out having general anesthesia?

About 5 or 6 weeks ago I started getting symptoms of cystitis. Took over-the-counter medication for it, but nothing worked.
Slowly got worse over the next week or two, drinking water and cranberry juice wasn't helping, so saw doctor and was prescribed an antibiotic- Trimethoprim.
The same evening I collapsed with severe pain in my back/side and was taken to hospital.. after many hours was diagnosed with a kidney infection, as the original UTI had spread to my bladder and into my kidney. Was taken off the Trimethoprim & put on a different, stronger antibiotic, plus two types of painkiller, Codeine & Diclofenac.
Took the antibiotics & painkillers for a week or so. The kidney pain went away but WEEKS later I'm still getting recurring UTI/cystitis symptoms. Every time I think its gone, it flares up again. The most annoying part is having a constant feeling of needing the toilet. What the hell else can I try? This is really starting to get me down, I've forgotten what normal feels like.

No matter what brand of bcp I take, Ortho-cyclens, Yasmin, Nordette, Lo-Ovral and Lo-Estrin (yes, I think I have tried them all), I get awful side effects. Either I get skin discoloration on my face, or acne, or facial hair, or nausea... I hate it. Same with the depo provera shot. But then, if I go off of the pill, I get horrendous cramps and bloating and all that drama. I feel like I will have to be on the pill forever, and look like a circus freak all my life :( Is there any other solution, or am I doomed either way?

With birth control pills, specifically Yasmin, do I need to take the white pills the last week? Or are they just a placebo to keep my habit of taking them daily?

For the past month, at least once a week i have been getting really painful nipples, especially the right hand side, i am currently on my period, so there is no chance that it could be to do with pregnancy, but i have never experienced this pain before, so i dont believe it could be because i am on.. please help!

Okay, if a woman has re-occuring yeast infections and UTI infections after intercourse what could possibly be the problem? Of course i'm talking about me. This always happens after intercourse and it makes me not want to do it anymore. Note: My boyfriend and I use a latex everytime and instead of a lubricant, he chooses to use Saliva. Could that be the problem? Please help, because I'm tired of always going to the doctor's after everytime my boyfriend and I are intimate.

I suffered an ectopic pregnancy ths time last year and lost a tube. My Husband and I have been trying for a baby for years now but have not been successful.
My last period was October 24th. i am quite irregular, usually about a 30-35 day cycle.
I did a pregnancy test but it was negative. i have been so tired and have had a strange feeling in my abdomen but is a completely different feeling to that of my ectopic pregnancy. It is painless and makes me feel like I need to urinate alot!
Does anyone know what could be happening??

My friend has such low self asteem. She thinks she is huge but everyone else tells her she's not that big. I think when she looks in the mirror she see's herself as being this huge whale which she really is not. How can i convince her. She's about 5"10 and she's a size 22. I guess cause of her height all the weight is spread out so she dosnt look that big. what do u think, if a girl is almost 6' tall and a size 22 do u think thats: thick, fat, obese or big? To me she looks like queen latifa's size. Her face is so pretty thu and she always has her head down. Even her boyfriend trys to convice her but she just dosnt see it, how can we make her see what we see! I know she wishes she had better self esteem cause we'll see ppl bigger then her wearing tight clothes with everything hanging out and she'll even say "i wish i had there esteem to wear something like that"

I don't want to touch her anymore with those stretchmarks all over her stomach. It really makes me sick. She should have used cocoa butter when she was pregnant with our child, but she DIDN'T and now she stomach is loose and floppy and covered with creases and stretchmarks. I GAG just thinking about them! I'm sorry, but it's true! She wants to "make love, but HONESTLY! I don't really want her touching me at this point til she gets that taken care of. What should she do to get rid of her unsightly stretchmarks and loose skin?

Ok well Im a 13 year old girl and like its weird cuz 2 days ago i was going...i feel like im having cramps or something? and then i said to my self that maybe i would be starting my period soon but i was like just joking and stuff and then now it actually happened! do most people know when they are about to have there 1st period? and also when i saw my underwear i was like dang did i take a huge shi* o wait...thats blood! lol its weird but i dont wanna start my period and how long will it be till my next one?
