With birth control pills, specifically Yasmin, do I need to take the white pills the last week? Or are they just a placebo to keep my habit of taking them daily?

They are just placebo. As long as you keep track of when to start your next pack, it's fine to toss them in the garbage, and wait out the week.

If you are on the 28 day pack then, you don't have to take them because all they are are, sugar pills and they get you in the habit of taking them on a daily basis. If you have the 21 pack then yes you have to take them If you don't want to take the sugar pills then ask your Dr. to write out your refill script for Yasmin 21 instead of 28 if they even come in 21? Some bc pills do and some don't.
