A year ago my son (at that time he was 11) was diagnosed as Bi-Polar (severe symptoms). We have dealt w/ a year of him stealing, being very violent to me and his sisters, and violent fits of rages. We have him on Depakote, & Risperdol. He was on Seroquel but that was making his blood sugar too high. We need some help b/c he is getting stronger and bigger and we are scared he will hurt us. He sees a therapist once a week and a Dr once a month. He has been in 5 day treatment centers when he has his rages, but that doesn't seem to work. The Behavorial Health center we go to is trying to get him into a Residential Treatment Facility. His Pychological he had last summer recomended that. Any suggestions?

You hear people say the guys/gals got a great mind- to bad they dont use it- i always thought the two were the same until you stop to relise that some people have the capacity to do great works, excellent with numbers etc, but can see the answer to basic questions- right/wrong, drink/dont drink- cheat/dont cheat- it sad that we dont use more of what God gave us to live our lives to the fullest- sometimes i think if we let our brains work like the machinery they are to run the body that we have life would be somewhat different then it is today. using your mind gives you the ability to make choices, using your brain would actually give you the right answers-

my best friend. He is bipolar. He has a child and saw him over weekend. Loves him to death. Not living with them. He quit a job he hated (but normally would go right out to find another). Would also normally call or come visit. Has been in bed mostly since returning from visit. Says he is ok on the phone and just loves to sleep. I said "you are not ok" and he says "yes I am" - he's in his 30s - needs to work but won't get out of bed. Called to make sure I knew he was ok and didn't "sound" down but he's not right. He's bipolar. What can I do to make him come out in the world? I can't go to his home and he won't always answer phone. I can email him though. He won't take meds (I understand the meds issues though). When he's down, how can I get him out and about without sounding demanding (he doesn't like that) and yet be caring? I need him back to being him again as I'm really scared right now.

The younger brother of my colleage has psychological problems and refuses to seek professional help. This past weekend he met his sister at his parents. For no reason he walked to her, grabbing her by the hair and punched right into her eye. Before this he pushed his father and his father's wrist was broken. As family members, they probably won't sue him for such violence, but something MUST be done before another person gets hurt. He's like a walking bomb, and no one knows when he'll explode and hurt people. He used to hold a job but quit due to his problems. Can anyone here offer any suggestion? Your help is greatly appreciated.

When i was in high school we had a psychologist who held sessions with the students to deal with emotional issues. Most of the kids that attended had problems at home and a lot had to do with their sexual orientation or single parents. Should all schools have a psychologists that helps students deal with such hardships?

I hope this makes sense because im half asleep at the mo!.I was playing for my football team that i played for from about the age of 14-16 only for some mad reason I was in goal..being the worst goalie in real life and my dream i was letting goals in keft right and centre!Although at the start I seemed to be really good saving lots of shots in a quite agile way but as the game and the dream progressed I became more and more crap at it.at one point one of the people on my team began shouting at me blaming me for the goal..i shouted back claiming I wasnt a goal keeper. Then After the game had finished the oppositions team were all standing in a row facing my goal.i asked what was going on and my team mate told me,even though we lost the game we now play penalties for the cup.I thought ahh this is my chance,if i just save one we can win..i was trying to focus myself so hard.i walked over to their goalkeeper and said best of luck mate but it took him ages to acknowledge me and shake my hand
