Actually I don't consider it laziness if it's caused by health issues or mental issues. In those cases the issues prevent people from doing things even if they want to do them. They're not being lazy, they're just not capable of doing some things.

Laziness is to not do something when you're perfectly capable of doing it but just don't want to.

It can be hard to tell whether a person is lazy or has some issues that prevent them from doing things.

Ethnicity will usually be the detemining factor.

Black democrats are morally lazy. They want free health care, paid for by working Republicans.

Mexicans will clog the Emergency Rooms with screaming babies waiting for free health care given to them by the taxpayers, voted in by the Democrats.

i think your question needs to be more specific. here is my interpretation of your question. you know someone with depression who seems very lazy, and you are wondering if its normal.

here is my answer. i have depression, and at its untreated worst it was all i could do to get out of bed and shower occasionally. there was no housekeeping, meal planning, and god forbid i should leave the house. but i'm also lazy and sometimes used the disease as an excuse, even when i was feeling better.

But properly treated with medication and counseling this becomes a non-issue.

if it is due to a health issue, i don't think that laziness is the correct word.

short of reading their mind, or their medical and psychiatric records, i don't see any way for you to know.
