since congestive heart failure meant that the heart is not pumping out enough blood to supply the body.

Doesn't every heart failure result in congestive heart failure (CHF)?

Is CHF a symptom or a consequence or an equal to heart failure?

My blood pressure is around 145/90 and i am taking 50mg of Triamterene. Because my blood pressure is elevated, my doctor wants to put me on Lisinopril 10mg. The pharmacy warned about the medications both causing potassium levels to raise to unhealthy levels and to double check with my doctor. I did, and they still say it's okay to take it even though the things I read on the net and what the pharmacy told me were negative. I am 27 years old and am already half way through the process of getting the gastric bypass, if I change doctors now then the whole process will be screwed. If I continue to take the Triamterene and not start this new drug, then how long approximately will I see positive results if I try to lower the bloodpressure though diet/exercise. I am wondering on average if you see results in weeks or months because I don't trust this pill nor the doctor seeing that I was already in the emegency room last weekend because he had me on something else that didn't work.

I was wondering about how long it takes for potassium levels to rise. My doctor is putting me on a second blood pressure pill that can raise my potassium levels up. He wants to take me off the intial blood pressure pill in a month, so I am curious if things will be okay till then. The doctors office acts like it is no concern but the pharmacy says different.

I have fainted twice in two weeks, so I went to the docters. They gave me an EKG test. It came out negative. But they think there is something else in my heart. So they drew my blood to check to see if I have low blood sugar, etc. So by friday I will get the results from the blood thing, and to see when I get the ultrasound

I am only 14 (one month till I am 15) and I dont know what to do.
I can't run for three weeks (Since I fainted when I was running), and If I faint again, they won't let me run ever again this year.

What to do?

I was just diagnosed with an intermittant irregular heartbeat that sent me to the ER and the docs all told me to cut out the caffeine (3-5 coffee and 3-4 diet soda per day) and cigs (about 3 packs a week). What is the best and most painless way to do both, or should I quit smoking first, then worry about the caffeine? My hubby is afraid I will become unbearable to live with!

background info, 18 years old, male, healthy, 5'9, 130 lbs. i worked out almost everyday but now i can't because i keep getting this weird cramp right below my rib cage near the center of my torso, on the left side. its hard to describe exactly where it is but i think that does a good job. i get it every time i walk or run, and never when i lift weights. sometimes it feels much stronger than a regular cramp and it's not where i would normaly get cramps (actually i never get cramps when i run). i would just really like to know what is cause this weird cramp to happen EVERY single time i walk. for example, today, i walked to my class which is about 10 minutes away from the parking lot and i got "the cramp" after only a minutes of walking. my breathing is fine and idk what the hell is causing it. could it just be growing pains, malnutrition, or a heart problem? i really doubt it being a heart problem but im not rulint it out. i would rather have an answer from a doctor of physician. thanx

For the last year, I get spasms on and off in the mid area of my sternum (always painless). Sometimes I will not have symtoms for a while. The feel like thumps inside and they will go all the way up to my throat. Mostly I notice when I am laying down to sleep at night is when I experiance the most symtoms. Again, always painless, don't suffer anything shortness of breath or lack of energy. I am about 10-15 lbs overweight which I am sure doesn't help but I am not obese. MY sister had open heart surgery at 6 months old but now is 31 years old and no new problems ever sense. What does this sound like, I plan on going to the doctor but I don't want to look silly. I am a 30 year old female generally healthy except for the 10-15 extra pounds.
