Yes, pacemaker wires can come through the skin. It is uncommon but it can happen. However the wire is normally repositioned as it becomes visable under the skin, before it actually pokes through. Lead repositions are much quicker in terms of procedure length than the actual time it took to fit the pacemaker to start with. Our patients that have had a lead come thru the skin (a very very small amount) usually have a dose of antibiotics which clears up any potential infection. I am sorry that your son is unwell. I hope he gets better soon.

I don't know about the wires coming through skin but I know they can move, which usually means you need to have it reset. So I suppose if it can move the wires could too. Get it seen to, it doesn't sound like something you should be taking chances with. Go to the doctor, or phone your consultant but do something.

The problem from being able to "see"the wires under the skin may be due to his being so frail and sick, and most likely loosing some weight and belly fat.I wish both of you all the best.Take care. SW RNP

Go bland. Plain, straightforward, unseasoned food such as barbequed chicken, plain rice and a naked baked potato are nutritious but your palette will tire of these people quickly, unlike salty moreish refined food, which keeps you snacking and piling about the pounds.
