I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia (but not diabetes) about 2 years ago. I usually get the typical symptoms when my blood sugar starts to drop - shaking, dizziness, hunger, irritability. Lately, I've been getting sick after eating dinner (nausea, stomachache, a washed out feeling) for about an hour, then I feel terrific. It doesn't happen at lunch or at my 10:00 pm snack. Are these normal symptoms of hypoglycemia? Also, my sugar starts to drop in the middle of the night, which it never did before. About 2 weeks ago, a friend and I had a major fight, which of course caused a lot of stress. Is it possible that this is responsible for my sugar being out of whack? Usually, when I'm having a spell, my sugar runs about 40, and my normal reading is around 70. My dr. didn't give me a diet to follow or anything, she just told me to always carry glucose tablets. Any advice on how to manage this better will be appreciated. Thanks.

What would be considered normal/safe glucose reading if taken from 30 min to1 hr after eating. I believe this would be the time when glucose reading would be at highest.

My uncle has type 2 diabetes and my mother said his blood sugar went down to 33. She says he could have died. Is that true? His normal blood sugar is 130 now that he's on medication. She lives next door to him and he was able to call her. She said he was cold and was sweating profusely. It took about 45 min. and much juice to get the sugar back up. Should she have called for an ambulance? This is my favorite uncle. Can't have anything happening to him. Please help.

I found out yesterday that I have diabetes. It was through the Army since I was enlisting. Since finding out I have diabetes the Army dropped me. I have no doctor to tell me how to manage my diabetes, though I am currently looking. Until I find one I need to know what to do. When I was diagnosed I had fasted (not eaten) for 12 hours and given the glucose tolerance test. My levels showed up as 307. Way above normal range. So my question is this: If I hadnt eaten in 12 hours and my levels were still that high, how do I lower my sugar levels? I cut out all sugar...what else do I do? (No I dont even know what type I have yet)

Hi i just did that diabetes test thing to see if i was at risk and it said that i could be. I do have quite a few symptoms that have gotten worse over the years, I have been to the doctors when i have been ill and they havent found anything wrong with me but have taken blood tests , but i dont know weather they check for diabetes. I do feel tried a lot of the time, i do tend to shake alot, and i am a little overweight and dont lose weight easily, and as i have taken the test it says blurry eyesite, i went to the opticions to get my eyes tested because of this and they said my eyesite was fine and i didnt need glasses, but it is still blurry. Also i do seem to need to pee more than i used to its not all the time but where as i use to go maybe twice a day i go like 10 times a day. Should i go and get it checked im 19 years of age and my doctor isnt helpful at the best of times. But i think it could be getting worse.

I am checking blood sugar all the time as I am diabetic, no need for insulin, but has to be eating carefully. A lot of times I find that the blood sugar can be 100mg/dl at bed time. After sleeping 8 hours, it is 128mg/dl. Why is this? Why the blood sugar increase instead decrease during sleep?

I have many of the symptoms of diabetes:
Constant thirst, having to urinate more than usual, feeling more hungry than usual, losing weight without trying to, feeling very tired, feeling cranky, lots of infections and cuts and bruises that heal slowly, tingling feet (frequent but not constant), lots of skin infections.
I had a 3 hour glucose test and was told that 2 of the values were very low. I haven't scheduled the follow-up visit yet. What should I expect?

my boyfriend (type 1) accidentally peed in his sleep because he forgot to take his shot and now is paranoid when i sleep over. He finds it almost impossible to sleep.
When it happened i jumped out of bed and showered/cleaned sheets but I wasn't upset - i know it can happen if he forgets his insulin (this is the first time since i've known him).
how can i make him know that i understand and that i don't care - not like he did it on purpose.

Are there any treatments or procedures in which a diabetic must undergo routinley involving needle aspiration intp the liver or kidney? My husband has a worker using this excuse to have time off from work on a routine basis. I as a nurse never heard such a thing, but who knows with this disease. Option of having a doctors note to collaborate his story has already been addressed.
