Colonoscopy cuts out growths of a certain size within your colon. Supposedly, those larger ones are most susceptible of becoming cancerous. Makes good sense. However, would cutting such growths cause an in situ cancer (benign) to spread. I read that when you do biopsy of breast or prostate tissue, one can actually cause a benign cancer to spread and become dangerous. Why would it not work the same for the colon?

In your answer please mention your field of expertise and reference supporting your opinion. These will be considered when selecting the best answer.

My Grandfather is terminally ill with cancer. When I visit with him I want to do all that I can to be good company and help him relax. I usually rub his feet and back, read to him, play games like hangman, etc. and then I run out of ideas. Anyone have other suggestions for entertainment or relaxation that I can provide?

Eleven yrars old boy who has enlarged tonsils and adenoids experience changes in temperature during diffrent times in a day. His temperature falls to 97.2 F at 2 a.m, improves to 98.4 F at 7.00 a.m, reaches 99.4F at 10.00 a.m and generally keep with in the range of 99.2 F to 99.9 F from 9.00 a.m to 9.00 p.m. The boy also suffers from thrombocytosis with platelet counts occasionally increasing upto 5,80,000. The temperature rarely come to the normal range of 98.6 F despite continued intake of antibiotics like cephalexin, ampoxiline, cloxamycetine etc. FNAC could not be possible as sufficient sample could not taken out of the deep rooted swollen lymph nodes at the base of tonsils on either side. Does the position explained above indicate any serious malignant disease or it is just due to infection of tonsils?
