Doctors have found a growth in my dad and suspect it may be bowel cancer. They have done a biopsy on it and will have the results in a couple of days. (he had no symptoms at all but had the flu last week and when he was on the anti-biotics for the flu he started to bleed, so he went and got a colonoscopy done) Can people who have had experiences with this plz tell me about it. Im really worried. whats the chances that he can pull through this type of cancer and live a long, normal life? He's only 45.

My boyfriend's co-worker just away in his late twenties.
Both of us are very sad, what should I say to comfort him? My boyfriend almost got the same cancer his co-worker had. (It was a long story, my boyfriend got check-up one month ago, the doc says that he might have it, but they found out it was okay at last)
I know that my boyfriend is scared that he will die young like his co-worker did. Also, is it right to spend money on vacation(I know it will be quite a debt for me after I come back), not knowing will you die tommorrow?

My husband had some test run last summer and we were told that he didn't have lymphoma. He has never gotten better so we have gone back to another Dr. and he is sending us to a cancer Dr. because he says that my husband could have lymphoma and the tests not pic it up last year. Has anyone heard of it and if so, does it make it harder to cure if it takes that long to find?

In women, breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second most common cause of death from cancer. Approximately 180,000 patients--both women and men--are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and 40,000 people die each year from it. Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women aged 44-50 years. The overall 5-year survival rate is 60%, but if caught early, the rate increases to 80%.

The chemo is being stopped temporarily. Most likely will have to resume some time this year, thus we are leaving it in. Doctor said don't worry about it, but I am afraid it might clog, or get infected. Does it need to be flushed with Heparin or saline, and how often?

My cousin's girlfriend found out she has cancer, she has 7 spots on her lungs and she has a couple spots on her cervix, and on her lymph knodes...with having so much cancer everywhere, do you think she has a chance?

I've heard that if it gets in your lymph knodes it spreads real fast. They said shes probably had this since she was 24 and shes 30 now, and its a rare cancer that usually only shows up on 60-70 year olds

In NYC, a pack of ciggies are like $8. You would think kids cant afford it so they couldnt get it. You would think people would just quit because they would save money. You would think the high number of cases of cancer would be a good motivation. People who smoked before, I'm sure its hard...but is it still on the rise? I read the news about it and it doesnt seem to have reduced as much as some want it to. You think it will always be like this or do you have hope?

My husband has a severe form of multiple myeloma. He is only 39 years old. I have been trying hard to try to cope with his illness but with all of my other responsibilities(kids, work, school, home, bills etc) I find it difficult to be there for him the way he wants me to. I cook for him and take him to his appointments, I wash and bathe him as well and change his bandages. Those things do not bother me. We have to wait until his medical insurance kicks in to get home health care. Until then, the thing that bothers me most is every time I try to get started on another task he is calling me to do something else for him (get him water, help him to the bathroom, fix him a snack, find the remote) the list goes on and on. He was given a four way walker and a cane but he would rather lean on a person than try to use those tools to help himself. What advice do you have?

I should also add that he can get around with help from a person or the devices that were prescribed by his doctor like the four way walker and cane, but it does drain him to use those muscles.

I have an unknown mass located at the end of my femur, with involvement of my knee. I am being referred to an orthopaedic oncologist based on the results of my x-rays and MRI. Are calcifications of old injuries easy to diagnose or is this more likely an osteosarcoma?
