is there any way to cure cancer?

Not currently, however there are treatments and preventative measures.

A cure means you will be completely absolved of the problem forever.

A treatment is a management. Like chemo can rid a person of cancer for awhile but there's still a chance it will come back.

Cancer happens on a cellular level so it's going to be a tough one to find a 'cure' for.

(Quoted)
Cancer can be treated by surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy or other methods. The choice of therapy depends upon the location and grade of the tumor and the stage of the disease, as well as the general state of the patient (performance status). A number of experimental cancer treatments are also under development.

Complete removal of the cancer without damage to the rest of the body is the goal of treatment. Sometimes this can be accomplished by surgery, but the propensity of cancers to invade adjacent tissue or to spread to distant sites by microscopic metastasis often limits its effectiveness. The effectiveness of chemotherapy is often limited by toxicity to other tissues in the body. Radiation can also cause damage to normal tissue.

Because "cancer" refers to a class of diseases, it is unlikely that there will ever be a single "cure for cancer" any more than there will be a single treatment for all infectious diseases

I not sure there is a cure, some cancers go into remission, and some are deadly. Cancer is a personal thing 2 people can have the same kind of cancer but each will act differently to treatment. We need to do none stop research for new was to treat all cancers.

The cure rate for non melanoma skin cancers is very high, well above 70% even including very advanced cases.

Many other types of cancer are curable if discovered early and treated promptly. Other types of cancer are not curable but only treatable. Treatable means life span may vary from increasing lifespan a few weeks to increasing life span to many years with long periods of good health broken by intermittent relapses requiring re-treatment proceeding to eventual treatment failure followed by death.

You question is so general, since there are hundreds of types of cancer, that to be any more specific with an accurate answer you will have to ask a more directed type of question.

there is a cure for it nowadays. Happens all the time. the trick is to diagnose the disease in its early stage.

Lance Armstrong, is a survivor of some type of cancer ... he's now cancer free and has been for a number of years. Good for him!

Cure? If caught in time, early stages. Prevent? Depends on what type of cancer i.e smoking, sunbathing etc... Vaccine as a preventative? No

In some cases yes. It depends a lot on individual biology and even a willingness to fight. Sometimes, unfortunately, you just can't win. I have a friend who has prostate cancer and he finds it an annoyance but beatable and treatable, however, I have a cousin with brain cancer and he may not last the summer.

Yes.Viruses that Kill Cancer.

In the era of molecular biology, viruses are being adapted for our own purposes. They have served as powerful tools for gene manipulation and now they are showing promise for use in anti-cancer therapies.Viruses, in their mission to hijack cells for their own replication, happen to target many of the same genes that are mutated when a cell becomes cancerous. Therefore viruses are amenable to reengineering as cancer killing machines. There are currently several viruses being developed into microscopic smart bombs.

Viruses were actually the first genetic engineers. Viruses were designed by the blind watchmaker of evolution to hijack the functions of a cell in order to replicate. They have developed a widely varied arsenal in order to accomplish their sole goal of propagation. Viruses are simple when compared to the cells that they employ as hosts because they tend to be composed only of a protein coat and genetic material. Whereas, a cell is a bewilderingly complex array of processes. Also a virus is dormant until it docks with a cell and proceeds to have its way with the biochemistry of its victim.

Viruses have evolved in a multitude of ways to work their magic. There are viruses that kill within days such as Ebola and there are viruses that kill after years such as HIV. There are viruses that do not kill and are, for the most part, inconveniences such as the infuenza virus and the common cold virus. Other viruses, such as the reovirus, have no noticeable effects in humans. Some viruses have even been linked to cancer such as the human papillomavirus which is a primary risk factor for cervical cancer. ****************************Cancer Cures?

Well, so far, we haven't found a way to immunize people from it, as we have with Polio.

However, there are many people who have previously had cancer, and who have survived...Therefore, they are cured.

Radiation and Chemotherapy are common treatments.
