According to my father's oncologist:
Radiation does increase the chance of secondary cancers in the surrounding areas. I believe specificly, colon, small intestine, andI think the other one was kidney or bladder. Although cause and effect are hard to prove- how do would you know it was the radiation that caused it and not something else? Eventhough my dad was told this, he is now 8 years post-op and is has been in remission ever since. I wish you luck.

I can tell you from experience. Years ago I had external X-ray for prostate cancer. Day after day I had to lie under the huge x-ray machines while they jolted the cancer cells. I had the maximum amount of X-ray permitted by law. Any more, and my organs would shrivel and die.
With all the treatments, over months of time, the cancer was missed. My PSA continued to climb. Finally I had to take the "golden shots" to bring my PSA down.
But in answer to your question, no none of my organs close to my prostate became cancerous or otherwuse effected.

In this day and age it is unlikely that you would get a second primary from radiation treatment. The technology these days targets the volume to within millimetres and spares the surrounding tissues. This also reduces the risk of serious long term side effects.

I had gamma knife surgery on my brain for epilepsy a few years ago. I was warned that radiation causes genetic breakdowns, that's how it fights cancer. I was warned it could cause cancer in a few decades. You have to look at what's better, living as long as you can or taking a chance.
