i am 39 weeks pregnant and still not dilating or 'ripening'. my pap was abnormal, they found a lesion on my cervix and wont touch it until after i deliver when they are going to repeat the pap. they say since cancer runs in my family, i have a good chance of having cervical cancer. but we wont know anything until after i deliver. what are the chances that my lesion is causing me to not dilate? and what do i have to look forward to after delivery if it is cancerous? SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY PLEASE!!!!!!!
I am very nervous about this. anyone been thru it?

It's been pea-sized, firm and movable in a 1 inch diameter area for about 1.5 months. Hasn't grown or diminished at all. I'm an extremely healthy person. No smoking, moderate drinking, lots of excersize, no illnesses, infections or wounds, and a fairly low cancer history; Mother -ovarian, 30 yrs old. The internet has less than favorable things to say, siting the left-supraclavicular node as a sentinel node, "Virchow's Node," etc. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I received an email saying Johns Hopkins Institute put out a research paper. They say cooking in plastic containers in a microwave causes cancer. It may be a hoax. But I have always been suspicious of this method of cooking.

Apparenrently, the dioxins leaches into fat in the meat (or even vegetables) and this is dangerous. Any truth to this?

I advise everyone in my family to use Corningware, a neutral glass container to cook meat.

Any comments? What's your experience in this area?

4 years ago diagnosed with MM, 17 % plasma cells 3000 iga, 2.9 M protein conc, no M protein in urine. Did 5 mos of Thalidomide and Decadrone, went to Arkansas for treatment, they said wait as #'s went down to 1.7 and bone marrow biopsy 9%. 1 year later went to cleve clinc dr says disease progresing, 35% bone marrow, 2500 iga, minimal urine protein level, dr said i was a non secretor and it was time to treat. New Dr. came in , stopped the trial, said I was not a non secretor, decided to watch and wait. He thought I had mgus, iga was due to chronic sinus infected for 10 + years, sinus was obleted in '93. ENT opened sinus cavity, drained infected out. Today counts steadily increasing , iga 4460, hemogloblin 10.9, m protein conc. 2.99, protein in urine 7.0, bone marrow biopsy 75%. Top part of sinus is still blocked/infected, question is to treat sinus first? I'm confused about diagnosed, mm dr is waveriing whether to treat and he is leaving the cleve clinic-neg bone scan-47 yo male

chances of me getting the disease? Is it as strong as on a mother's side? My father's sister and father's mother had breast cancer in mid life. Will I get it or is it only if the mother's side had it? I'm 35 by the way. My mother's side has no history of breast cancer whatsoever.

ok, knowing that melanoma is the fatal type of skin cancer... does it matter where its found? like with other cancers if its like anywhere near your spine or something then its a lot worse than anywhere else. is it the same with melanoma? does the place of the cancer make it worse or is it just that you have it kinda thing?

My best friend was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in March. She has just completed numerous rounds of chemotheraphy and is scheduled to begin stem cell replacement procedures at NY Presbyterian Sept 20. Though she completed her last round of chemo more than a month ago and has been on a medication given to diabetes patients with the same symtoms, she suffers from agonizing pain in her feet...burning, pins & needles, hot, then freezing, feeling like sandpaper was scraped against the bottoms of her feet...the medication has done nothing, massages, foot baths do not help...please help me to help her....she can't sleep and a woman that is probably the strongest and bravest that I know has been reduced to tears...HELP!!!!

I read one article about how an artificial enzyme, PAC-1, boosts the tumour cells sensitivity to executioner cells by 2000 times, though it has not yet entered clinical trials, as far as I know. Can you come up with any more details or other promising research in this area?
