can anyone tell me what to watch for to see the end is near in a cancer patient. The doctors aren't saying much except to do what needs to be said and done and he is getting so bad. I want to be prepared.

My friend's son has a neuro blastoma and all the local doctors have given up on this kid. All the doctors agree that inorder to save him they have to remove all of the tumor. The problem is, 2% of the tumor is on a vital part of his brain where the doctors are afraid to touch. We found a hospital in massachusetts that's willing to give it a try and we also got an offer from St. Judes. The only problem is travel expenses. Insurance can cover the surgery and hospital stay but the parents can't afford the plane tickets and hotel fees. Anyone know a charity that pays for this stuff?

For the past few weeks, I have had headaches that started off not painful but now are starting to be a little painful. Also, I have always seen floaters in my eyes because I rub them too much. However, I have had a sudden onset of a lot more of them than I usually have, now I cannot even move my eyes across a piece of paper without seeing at least 2 floaters. Also, I have heard a ringing in my ears very often, and sometimes one ear will just feel numb while the other feels like it is ringing. I have also been feeling nauseous after eating, but usually just after eating, not anytime else. I also keep feeling a tingling in my right leg, almost like a shiver. Could these be signs of a brain tumor?

An Italian colleague has grade IV astrocytoma and has run out of options in Italy. He is seeking a U.S. facility that may offer additional treatment possibilities. How can one compile a list of places beyond the obvious (Sloan Kettering, Mayo)?

and just plain negative. I know it's important to not shut people out but what if it's a double edged sword with some, more stressful than not & you feel they are helping just to ease some sort of guilt? Is this selfish to feel this way? I have had to tell a few that are like this to continue their support through prayer & that is how they can help best.

My dad has colorectal cancer in stage four. The doctor wont operate becuase it's already spread to his liver and lungs. He wanted to start chemo right away. The doctor has told him to be careful in the cold weather, watch his diet, be careful with hot and cold food/drinks, and to rinse his mouth out with listerine througout the day. He has done everything by the book but....HE'S STILL SMOKING! This isnt the cause of his cancer...we dont think...but he just wont quit! Will the chemo even work if he is still smoking???

about 4 months ago I woke up one morning with bad pain in my kidneys and blood in my urine. the pain in my kidneys started to die down but about 2 months ago I started to develop a throbbing pain in my bladder with constant blood in my urine. the pain comes and goes. I had an ultrasound and there were what they believe to be stones in my kidneys and my bladder looked fine but ultrasounds supposedly aren't very good for detecting that kind of cancer. also ive been checked for infection (blood and urine tests) and they were perfectly clear except the blood. I'm 25 years old and no history of this kind of cancer in my family. please help!

A blot clot was found in my Dad. He has stomach cancer too. The leg with the clot has been swelled. But now both legs and testicles are swollen. I was just wondering if the clot may be blocking something causing the swelling.

I was told I have HPV and that it's a sexually transmitted disease. But I have heard also that you can get HPV from anywhere (such as a toilet seat) I am 24, lost my V. when I was 20 and have had only 3 partners. Should I tell my past partners? My mom died of ovarian cancer and 63% of my relatives have *had* cancer or died from it. I am scared to death. I need more info on this subject. Please help.
