My friend's son has a neuro blastoma and all the local doctors have given up on this kid. All the doctors agree that inorder to save him they have to remove all of the tumor. The problem is, 2% of the tumor is on a vital part of his brain where the doctors are afraid to touch. We found a hospital in massachusetts that's willing to give it a try and we also got an offer from St. Judes. The only problem is travel expenses. Insurance can cover the surgery and hospital stay but the parents can't afford the plane tickets and hotel fees. Anyone know a charity that pays for this stuff?

You can check with Angel Flight which offers free air passage for patients needing transportation to distant medical facilities.

There are also Hospitality Lodging facilities near most major hospitals. Please check with Ronald McDonald House charities. Cancer patients and families can stay at the houses and are charged based upon ability to pay. You can call the house directly or ask for a referral from doctor or hospital social worker.

I've provided links to a directory that lists about 40 different Medical Health flights. Call them. Only caution is that they need a week usually to find someone willing to fly the patient. Also, the flights are usually on smaller airplanes and so they have a weight limit.

Try Ronald mac house, they are much cheaper then a hotel in some cases you dont pay. You will need to find one close to where operation is and ring now/today as you may need to go on a waiting list. I know when my daughter was diagnosed we were given some priority because she had cancer and got a room straight away. Pull out your phone book and ring companies and charities for donations, this would be a really nice thing to do to help. good luck to the family. This is a web site that is ment to have resourses for financial asistance

Get a whole bunch of people together, I mean ALOT - his friends, your friends, all the family, make a bunch of ads to pass out at a school w/ the permission of the school. Look around in the area to where most of the people would be around in a busy intersection area, like H.E.B, WAL-MART, I know C.V.S and WALGREENS where I live do it, and "IT" IS A FREE CAR WASH............ You get the permission of the stores management tell them that you are trying to raise money to try and keep alive your friends son. Have alot of towels, soap for car wash water hoses, sponges the little touch for the tires - the stuff you spray on them, most of these things can be bought at a $ store make sure you have an ice chest with alot of water and gatorade. Have people wash, have people dry, have people windex the outside windows, have people spray the tires so they shine. Have people circling all around the building and the older people across the street holding up signs saying FREE CAR WASH!! Please help to get "john doe" to massachussets for brain surgery - DONATIONS ARE APPRECIATED please help save his life by donations.........somewhere along those lines. You can also put a picture of the boy saying what you want to put on it. On like a gallon jug (empty.) MAKE SEVERAL AND TAKE IT TO EVERY SINGLE CONVENIENT AND GROCERY STORE THAT WILL LET YOU LEAVE IT THERE. After a week or so go collect them. The car washes - do it late friday - about 3:00, maybe even 12:00 saturday and sunday start super early. You will probably raise more money then expected. BEST OF LUCK AND GOD BLESS YOUR FRIENDS BOY

If there is a McDonald's house near the hospital they could stay there. Maybe they could have a frequent fliers drive, where people donate their frequent fliers miles.
