I have taken care of many people with brain cancer. They were all my patients, although I haven't known anyone personally who has been diagnosed. I am very sorry to hear about your mother. You, your mother and your family will be in my prayers.
Unfortunately, every single person is different. There is no way to tell how much time she has left. Her doctors who have her records and radiology reports would have the best inclination. Bottomline, enjoy every single second you have with her.
Best wishes.

I was diagnosed with an anaplastic astrocytoma, grade 3, in 1996. I went through several different chemotherapies, external radiation, internal radiation, and a total of 5 surgeries. I am, obviously, still alive and well. The best thing to do is go to a Medical Center that has a brain tumor center, not just a cancer center. Your mom needs doctors who deal with all aspects of brain tumors. I went to Duke for my treatment, and still go there for my check-ups.

My boyfriend has stage 3 brain cancer too ... They told him last July 2005 that he had maybe a year ... He is still here and doing pretty good ... He has alot of seizures everyday and has lost the use of his right arm. ( Tumor is on the left side ) the last MRI taken 2 months ago says the tumor is growing and they have upped the chemo ... Everytime we ask How Long ,,, were now told ,, " We have no idea " Everytime we tell you a time you seem to outlast it .... I think its different for everyone ... but from what they told us from the begining .. he should be dead now ...

My mom died of brain cancer about a year and a half ago. After we found out about the tumor she was dead within 3 weeks, it happened so fast that it truely didn't hit us till after the funeral. It is the hardest thing I have ever had to go through. I wish you the best, my mom was my best friend. Love your mom while you still have her, cause when she is gone you will miss her more than anything. I still cry myself to sleep everynight because I miss her so much.

No one can really answer how long somebody may have to live. Even the doctors do not know for sure. But what is true is that every mortal dies at some point. Some just die sooner than others.
You need to focus on your mother and her life right now. See only today and do not concern yourself with tomorrow. Enjoy her company, her laugh, her smile, and bring joy to each other.

Talk. Hug. Love. You will never regret it.

Peace to you.

My fiancée's stepfather had brain cancer, he lived about a year after it was diagnosed. But he also had lung cancer and diabetes, and he didn't follow his doctor's directions regarding care for his condition. Also, different people respond differently to treatment so there's no way to tell what's going to happen with your mom.

Hi

I have a grade 3/4 mixed glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor.

I've lived longer than any other with my type of cancer, that my oncologists have dealt with.
"over 2 years".

treatments are getting better.

sounds weird being stubborn, seems to help fight the cancer off?

please contact me if I can be any help?

I don't have all your answers, but I do know the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix Arizona is one of the best places to get treatment for brain cancer. Their website is www.thebni.com .

Barrow is part of St Joseph's hospital in Phoenix.
