Thanks for all those who answer. Would you please indicate in layman terms what the following diagnosis would mean as my friend's family doctor isn't all that helpful in saying if this means cancer or not for their 90 year old relative who passed out and was rushed to hospital. Had ulcers in the past and overall good health.

DIAGNOSIS:

A. Stomach, Antrum Biopsy
1. Antral Mucosa w/Intestinal Metaplasia; Negative for Dysplasia or malignancy
2. Alcian Yellow stain negative for H.Pylori
B. Stomach, Designated antral ulcer biopsy
1. Poorly differentiated andenocarcinoma
2. Alcian yellow stain negative for H. Pylori

The surgery took place on my arm and the surgeon said what was taken out will be tested? So I am assuming that what he took out was okay and that it is over with, since he seemed confident. Has anyone ever had to go back for further surgery after surgeon said all was out?

My dad has had cancer for over 7 years. I know hes not going to be here forever. I am going to be 20 and there has been so much more. This has been alot to deal with from the daughtors perspective. I have been told I am so strong for dealing with everything the way I have, but I think I need something more. What is out there for people dealing with family and cancer? Psychologist? Groups? What has worked? I have thought about talking to a psychologist or something but I dont know if thats what I need.....im so confused.

With all of the health risks known about smoking e.g. emphysema, throat cancer, and lung cancer why in the world are people still smoking? I realize there are those people out there who just don't even care that they smoke and just won't quit, I"m not talking abou them. I'm talking about those who have never smoked and are just starting. I hate to think that "looking cool" or peer pressure is driving them to smoke. I would think we would be above that now.

My eight year old son has chronic swollen lymph nodes on his neck, and sometimes else where. They are only tender sometimes, and are not accompanied by any other symptoms, i.e they are not caused by the presence of a virus or infection. The doctor believed at one time they were infected and treated him with antibiotics. He complains of them on occasion, like once every two months or so..should I be concerned that lymphoma may be a possibility?

He just told us and he has already begun radiation treatment. He gets treatment thru the VA and his English is limited so he has told us he doesnt completely understand the diagnosis, just that it is in 5% of the prostate and that he was given treatment choices, radiation, surgery, or "wait and see" if it develops further. He is coming over so we can call the dr. together and get a clearer understanding. What are some questions that I can be asking? I know almost nothing about it.
