I JUST started having trouble with my knees 9 months ago. I was wearing some bad shoes....hadn't been getting exercise, gained weight and fell into a stairway, hitting a knee on the edge of a step.
I limped for a few weeks. Got orthopedic shoes, which seemed to hhelp. I tried taking Glucosomine Chondroitin and Aleve. The doctors say that I have torn cartilige in both knees and advanced osteoarthritis in both knees. He said that both knees will have to be replaced in 5 years.
I am only 53 years old and NEVER had knee pain before last November when I had that little fall in the stairway.
It doesn't seem right.
How can I avoid knee surgery? Can exercise and weight loss help much? Can supplements help to rebuild the cartiige?
Do any of the steroid or Synvisc shots help?
What can I do to improve my knee, joint health.....What really works?
