My back has been killing me for awhile and it seems to be getting worse everyday. I went to the E.R. last week and they thought it was an std, tested and treated me for 2-3 of them. Test came back negative. It feels like back labor but I'm not pregnant or having menstrual cramps (do have a bump on my cervix) the doc seemed certain it would be an std but it wasn't, and the pain is still there even though i took all antibiotics i would have if it had been an std. What should i do? Have you ever had anything like this? What was it? Remember it feels like back labor.

I would try a chiropractor for back pain. Has made mine 100 percent better.

If you have insurance see if your doctor will order an MRI.

If you don't have your own general doctor, get one... going to the ER for medical care means no consistency of care.

Try another doctor. Dr's "practice medicine", some have better skills. Sounds like it could be a pinched nerve in your lower back. Everything in you body is in some way connected to the spine. I have a bad lower back and thank my stars everyday for my chiropractor (the man with the magic hands) I do fine most of the time, but when I bend just right I can feel the bones in my back grab a nerve and give it a twist and I know now to stop what I'm doing immediately, or I'll have months of misery.

Try sleeping on your back with a pillow under your knees. That will re-leave stress on your lower back.

Lots of luck finding the problem, remember to watch your weight, get good exercise and a good diet with lots of fresh raw fruits and veggies. And stay OUT OF THE FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU's.

Hmmmm. Do you have a kidney stone? I had one last year (first time) and it was so painful when I went to the ER that they had to give me 2 or 3 shots of morphine to get the pain under control. They also suspected gynecological problems, but there weren't any. Here's what I recommend. It can't hurt you, so you might as well try it.
First, stop drinking cranberry juice and coffee. Go to Web MD and get a list of the no no's for kidney stone patients. Next, go get a bunch those heat wraps. They last for 8 hours and so you can even wear one to bed. Drink lots and lots of water to help you pass the stone(s). Supposedly drinking lemonade helps people from getting them again, so you can try that, but not as a substitute for water. Hope it helps, and please let me know if it does.
If it's a muscle problem try buying one of those giant red balls and sit on it for half an hour a day at least to strengthen your back muscles.

It could be a pinched nerve or pulled muscle. Try an OTC medicine called "Back Aide" and also try a heating pad. You might also consider consulting a shiatsu massage therapist or a chiropractor.

BTW, the "bump" on your cervix is probably a benign growth called a Nabothian Cyst. Nothing to be concerned with - and if you checked it periodically during the month you might find that it will change size & firmness (strange things you learn on Yahoo Answers!)

Can you feel one side of your back, is one side tighter than the other? If so, get some "ThermaCare" Heatwraps. The are sold in Pharmacies (CVS, Riteaid,) or even in grocery stores. Keep in on your back for 8 hours. Make sure you Lay "FLAT" on your back, and it would be best to keep your knees bent and pointed towards the ceiling. This keeps your back straight and align, its hard to do. It should take care of the problem....

If you have a back spasm, also use the thermacare and take pain killers. Lay on your back and knees pointed straight up. You need to stretch the back, but you need to carefully and slowly do this.

Good Luck....

You were treated for an STD because of back pain? That's odd. I would change drs. and YES, see about getting an appointment with a chiropractor. They did wonders for my back.

Are you sure it's not your kidneys? It feels the way you describe sometimes when your kidneys are acting up...Maybe you should run a few tests for that...
