I recently went to a "Slumber Party" and have also been to a Pampered Chef party. It seems like a great way to make some money as a side job but I'm not sure I'm qualified for either of the two. I can't imagine talking about anal beads to a group of strangers and I know nothing about cooking. What are some other types of presentation type parties? Any info you have would be great.

50 people, about 11 will be kids. Mostly meat and potatoes crowd, so anything too exotic or fancy will not go over well. We want to serve mostly appetizers, and so far this is our 'rough' menu. Would like some input please: Shrimp Cocktail, Fresh Fruit, Crab Stuffed Cucumber Bites, Corn Chowder Soup and Mini Bread Bowls, Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes, BBQ Meatballs, Slices of Stuffed Chicken Breast, Cold Bean Salad served in Endive Leaves, Pasta Salad & Possibly a Mini Potato Bar and/or CornBread puffs w/pico de gallo topping.

I am throwing a cocktail party for a bunch of college students (who don't have the most refined of tastes) and would like to make faux Champagne cocktails, but am wondering if this is even possible. I am not familiar with the cheaper versions of champagne-like drinks available in the UK(such as Cava and Asti). Is anyone familiar with these and knows whether these drinks would taste good as a cocktail ingredient?

I know that I will be either putting out sandwich meat or making footlong subs myself. (I can not buy subs anyplace- we are military and live oversea). I thought I'd make potato salad, macaroni salad, fruit tray, veggie tray, and a cheese and crackers tray. Any other ideas?

There's going to be about 50 people or so.
