What alcohol is the best quality for the price? I am a broke college student and I've been buying smirnoff and captain morgan, but $25/$30 for a fifth is draining , especially since I have no income. I know cheap alcohol causes more hangovers, and I don't need that. Anyone have any personal favorites?

I see the term "horizontal tannins" used occasionally in wine reviews (just do a web search for the phrase and you'll find a bunch of them). I know what tannins are, and I know what "silky tannins" are, but what are "horizontal tannins"?

I was wondering about carrying alcohol in a flask. Is it legal to carry around the amount of alcohol that one carries? I know if you get pulled over with an open container of alcohol you would get in trouble, what about a flask though?

I bought a stainless steel cocktail shaker (the three piece kind) yesterday and the top piece (above the strainer) is stuck. The metal is really slippery and I can't get a good grip on it. Can anyone give me any tips on loosening it?
