What alcohol is the best quality for the price? I am a broke college student and I've been buying smirnoff and captain morgan, but $25/$30 for a fifth is draining , especially since I have no income. I know cheap alcohol causes more hangovers, and I don't need that. Anyone have any personal favorites?

I'm going for the inebriation thing.. ;) It usually only takes me about 6 shots of smirnoff to be gone.
Also, I just found out that the place I usually buy at is extra-expensive, so I am gonna have to start going to Meijer or something.

When I'm low on cash I'll drink a whiskey called "Philadelphia". It's decent whiskey IMHO. It's less than $15 a fifth.

Where are you buying captain morgans for $25 a fifth, I can buy a handle for $22.

San Miguel Ginebra 80proof at 21 pesos (about 45c) per bottle.

Of course if you want quality, buy XO cognac. It goes for $85 a fifth in duty frees. In the States I saw it as high as $160.

I make my own beer. It's better than commercial stuff and for less than a case of crappy beer, you get 5 gallons of good, fresh beer made to your tastes. There's always the initial cost of equipment and you have to store it for a few weeks but it's worth it. Especially for a student.
