A recent Wine Spectator magazine featured a number of spectacular wine cellars with collectible double magnums, jeroboams and other large format bottles proudly on display standing upright. How do these collectors keep the corks from drying out?

I accidently let two very nice cigars get overly dry, and now there are some small cracks appearing in the wrapper etc. Is there anything I can do to help them, or should I just pitch them in the trash?

Does anyone know of a contest for this

My pantry smells like wine. I'll be taking the trash out in the morning, but I'm just curious as to where the smell could be coming from. There is no food in the trash except for bread crumbs, tomatoes, and a banana peel, maybe some onions. But no grapes. But it smells strongly of wine, fumes almost made me tipsy. But there is no alcohol in the pantry at all.

Everything else in there is canned or in a bottle or dry food.

We had some empty alcohol bottles in there for a few months, but finally recyled them a month ago (and they had been sitting there since August).

Any clue?

I'm looking for a type of alcohol that doesn't taste horrid or have that "whiskey" burn. I want to taste good, and most importantly, a high alcohol percentage. I'm looking to enjoy getting drunk quickly.

The reason I ask is if I leave an open beer out over the night is it still worth drinking in the morning. LOL

I'm going to buy my boss a bottle of Scotch for Christmas (because he likes Scotch)..but I know nothing about it...any suggestions as to a good brand...not terribly expensive? Say 40-50 dollars?
