Yes, but they are not supposed to because of the sugar in it.

I would advise against it, due to the way a diabetics body breaks down alcohol. Alcohol is broken down into a substance very similar to acetone and is very hard on the liver, and kidneys of a diabetic. I lost a dear friend who was diabetic due to his drinking. His kidneys literally shut down, as he entered a comma, never to awake. It was such a total trauma to see him die at 30. He knew his body couldn't take the drinking, but persisted until he lost his life.

Alcohaul turns to sugar in your system, it can put a diabetic into anophylactic shock. Diabetics that do drink, get drunk faster. It is dangerous, and like the guy at work who is diabetic who drinks at our Christmas party every year react rather poorly to alcohaul because insulin and alcohaul don't mix.

Depending on the severity of the diabetes......maybe.
I am type 2, diet controlled. I binge sometimes, but it DOES show in my BS tests--mostly because the drunk-ness makes me blow off my low-carb diet.
A type 1 tho--NOT a good idea. These people die young from dietary mistakes far too often---don't risk your LIFE for a party!

Now, before all the wannabe doctors come out, let me say, as a diabetic, it is ok to have a drink once in a while, but only in moderation as it can affect how you body uses insulin, now, certain diabetic medications should never be used with alcohol, because they will cause death, consult with your doctor before you even think of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not recommended, but there bacardi and diet coke isn't bad for them. Just one small drink, though, since the coke has "Sugar Alcohol" in it, and each unit counts as half a carb.
