To be honest Johnny Walker is crap
The best scotch voted 2005 and 2006 scotch of the year is
Laphroigh cask strength scotch. It is awesome, a good smokey peat flavor. From there I would go down the line as Daltmore, Macallen, Glen Livet.
Once you have Laphroigh you will see how inferior the rest are.

Blended: Johnny walker black or red.
but if he is into scotch, go for...
Single malt: Laphroig, Glenmorrangie, Oban, or Bowmore.
All within that range as long as you don't go for older than 12 years aged.
I would personally love any of the above, and I love scotch

Glenfiddich - smooth single malt scotch - in about that price range - a scotch lover will really enjoy that.

I'd go for Lagavulin myself.
Scotch varies in flavour depending on the region. Islay malts are very peaty for example, and some people don't like that.
Your best bet is to ask anybody who knows your boss what he likes, just to be sure.
