Beer, Wine & Spirits (Food & Drink) - November 2006

Hey there everyone - helping a friend organise her approaching 21st, and a little confused how much alcohol we should buy (nothing worse than running out, but we don't want to go overboard on the $'s!). So, we are thinking of making a big container/bin of punch, having some light and heavy beers, red and white wine, and some bubbly. We are Aussie's, so talking in terms of slabs (24 beers). Not sure of the final invite list, but could you help me out in how much you would buy for say, 100 people? They will be mixed in age and lifestyle, some older family and family friends, and plenty of school, uni, and college friends (who can all drink alot!). Please help? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!! thanks again!

What is the wine in the movie "Sideways"?

I was trying to find out the name of the wine the main character talks about and drinks on the beginning off the road trip. He says he's saving it for a special occasion but the friend opens it anyway. I think it was a pinot noir, but i'm not sure. I would like to know the vintage and the winery it came from. If anyone knows this could they pass the info along to me. Thanks.

Can you request a blood test instead of a breathlizer test?

I drink in moderation and I never drink and drive. Of course people who do drink alot make lots of claims about sucking on pennies etc. One thing they said was that if you drink and drive and get pulled over you should refuse a breathlizer and ask for a blood test? Can you do this? Would the wait between getting to the hospital effect the Alcohol content in your blood?

is it possible to be allergic to beer?

everytime i drink beer, the first one i have, i get sick to my stomach. If i continue drinking i wont get drunk, but i will get sick. And the next day, i get the WORST hangover in the world, and i wasnt even drunk the night before. Am I allergic or what's the deal?
